    Must be a hell of an experience listening to the Objekt album on a high-end system.

    Arca's debut album is out today. Guy produced the best of fka twigs' stuff, was involved with Yeezus and is co-producing Bjork's next album. His &&&&&& mix-thingy is excellent as well. So, get in now.

    I found the Arca album considerably more interesting than Objekt's

    Appropriate name for this forum. Beautiful track. The whole EP is great.

    Sleep Thieves, bit in the Chvrches mould I guess but well worth a listen.

    My first solo EP is out today and is available digitally or on vinyl from pretty much everywhere! Previews here:

    Come for the Dark Souls references - stay for the throwback UK garage vibes :)

    Can I ask ye peeps for some recommendations? I'm mostly into metal and jazz, but dabble in a bit of electronic stuff too.

    Most of my listening revolves the likes of early Aphex Twin, Leftfield, FSOL, Amorphous Androgynous (I'm aware of the link between those two), Drexcyia, µ-Ziq, Autechre, etc., with Squarepusher being my favourite. Been listening to a lot of Chvrches, Maya Jane Coles and a bit of Venetian Snares recently, and also like the euphoric 90s trance stuff.

    Any similar stuff or other essential artists I should check out? Thanks!

    @FuzzyDuck you might enjoy Body Riddle by Clark if you haven't already heard it?
  • Deleted user 8 January 2015 20:02:44
    @craigy

    I haven't heard it before... but I now have it playing on Youtube in another tab, this is right up my street, nice! :)

    Edit - that track "Herzog" is the absolute business.

    @FuzzyDuck Glad you like it! I've listened to a lot of Warp Records music over the years but it all kinda hurts my brain now. Getting old.

    @craigy

    Cool, cheers! Considering that this is pretty standard listening for me, I quite enjoy some Warp-style madness. I like that a lot of their acts are chaotic, but texturally they are fairly soft sounding (at least when compared to metal), makes for a decent contrast.

    @FuzzyDuck hah, that's nuts. Why did they get a dog to do the lead vocals?

    @FuzzyDuck I listen to mostly just electronic these days, and in the past have listened to a lot of what you mentioned (although now I'm into the more "fun" end of the spectrum now). Some random suggestions based on what I've been listening to recently:

    James Holden - anything he does is awesome in my opinion - and possibly a more lively version of some of the stuff you listed

    Daphni - particularly Jiaolong

    Daniel Avery

    Floating Points - especially Vaccuum Boogie EP

    Dauwd - Heat Division

    Extrawelt - Schone Neuwe Extrawelt (only listened to this album but I found it different enough to other stuff I listen to, to be a good listen)

    Max Cooper - Traum Colelction

    Kuedo - Severant (already mentioned in the thread recently, but if you like the idea of a minimalist techno homage to Bladerunner then you'll be happy with this)

    Kompact label compilations are great too - especially the 20 Jahre (20 year) one cause it has Mariposa by DJ Koze as well as some other gems

    And for even more upbeat and uptempo:

    DJ Koze - particularly his albums of remixes, or the free podcasts at Resident Advisor, XL8R, etc

    Modeselektor - I like anything they do, or with Apparat as Moderat

    Apparat

    Ellen Allien

    @craigy :D

    True story; the lead vocalist quit after that album (although he came back about a decade later) to peruse a career as an English teacher!

    @TheBlackDog

    I'm especially in the market for the more upbeat stuff, if I'm honest, as I don't really know much of it.

    I only recognise three names; Daniel Avery, Modeselektor and Moderat (whom I discovered about 10 minutes ago after going down a Youtube rabbit hole from craigy's link).

    Many thanks for the list, time for me to get exploring!

    Yeah, I heard about that too. I found this picture of him teaching quite interesting;

    Admittedly I haven't listened to it yet, but really looking forward to wrapping my ears around Erol Alkan's Fabric live mix as soon as I get a chance... He has to be one of the most consistently great DJs I've seen over the years

    Both Moderat albums are superb. Saw them last year in Manchester and they were bloody great.

    Still making my way through that list, although I'm stuck on Kuedo, really enjoying that!

    Moderat are the shit. Amazing live.

    From the same label as Rival Consoles - Kiasmos. Their album is worth a go (this is Olafur Arnuld's latest project, if you're familiar with his work).

    Some other stuff, not necessarily that new.

    FuzzyDuck, also check out Nosaj Thing, Teebs, Rumpistol, Kodomo, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Rone and Siruismo (awesome German weirdness with razor sharp production, same stable as Modeselektor, he does the artwork for Moderat).
