Ok this is a bit more mainstream but as someone who used to work in the hardcore rave scene in the early to mid nineties this guy, High Contrast, absolutely nails the sound with his album ĎNotes from the undergroundí released last month.

This single ĎGoing Upí came out last year and is on the album. Really reminds me of sweaty nights at Dreamscape, Helter Skelter and others. Good times! Big up all rollers massive!

Thereís a new KLF chill out album up on the various platforms. Similar style stuff to the classic one. Looks like the first in a series of new releases which is exciting.

It seems to be a remastered/directors cut/whatever of Chill Out.

Would be amazing if they are revisiting their entire catalogue with modern gear.

Chill out had some pretty heavy sampling on it so they might have had to revisit that to get it out anyway.

Anyone got recommendations for stuff like NIN Ghosts V? Itís good background music but I like that itís almost telling a story at the same time.

I struggle to find much else that doesnít just sound like a bunch of unrelated tracks, but Iíve never got too far into electronic.

Slightly re-ordered/ remixed? / shorter version of Chill Out, don't think there's anything new on it, from a quick scan through anyway.

Edit: was a few posts while I was listening I guess!

None of my recommendations are anything like Trent Reznor's stuff btw. Just electronic / ambient albums which hang together an feel like they have a narrative of sorts.

In Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement's case, the narrative is mainly that of impending doom and hidden threat.

On a heavier side of electronic (or industrial) music, Iím currently enjoying listening to Obsidian by Blue Stahli.

There are another two albums in the ďtrilogyĒ - Quartz and Copper that are a bit more experimental.

(And do check out his earlier albums if this is your kind of thing.)

Oh, actually, for background work stuff, the new Madlib album is pretty good. Just loads of really nice instrumentals (there are a load of vocal samples, so instrumentals may be stretching it, but hey...). I think Madlib provided the material and Four Tet mixed and arranged them into an album.

Its an interesting listen, trying to work out who contributed what.

Iíve pimped it before, but Wolves in the Thrown Room who are normally full on black metal, have for some reason made an ambient album called Celestite which is really excellent.

Also while often on the more modern classical side of things, a lot of Erased Tapes output makes for good background ambient type stuff.

I'm liking that Rheinzand album from last year.
Good dark dancy LCD Soundsystem style movers.
