It's really rather good. And I hate that Bryne bloke. But he's fantastic in this. |
Gavin & Stacey.

Registered 18 years agoFuck that was good.
A real treat this series - came across it completely by accident.
The news reader on 3 tonight is pretty bloody not bad too.
Caught the last episode of the last series of pulling and was impressed too - although it wasn't on the same level as G&S. -

Should technically be called Smithy and Nessa, but still awesome nonetheless. -
There are certain things in the universe that I don't understand and this is one of them. Why the fuck is this so damn popular? I didn't even know it was meant to be comedy. -

That kind of says more about you than everyone else. -

Registered 16 years agoI love it, it is understated character comedy. -
They keep showing clips of it on Something For The Weekend and it did look quite amusing. A couple of weeks ago I saw the bit where the fat one is leaving and she needs a bunk up into her truck, and then that Welsh bloke that had his own spoof game show was singing loudly in the car on the motorway. Quite funny. -

Bit surprised that the 2nd series is not on at least BBC2 tbh...

Registered 18 years agoI'd recommend watching the 1st series first then. I'm constantly amazed at the amount of people who say they really enjoy this. -

Registered 16 years agoI really liked the first series. Had a certain charm. But the new one has been a bit shit so far.
The jokes seem very forced compared to the first series. Crap like 'Judith Chalmer's Boxercise' that you can see coming a mile off and Nessa revealing a new talent every episode (e.g the stock market thing was tumbleweed inducing). When they said about going bowling I turned to the missus and said 'Nessa's going to get a perfect game' and surprise, surprise...
Shame.
Edit: Rob Brydon is still brilliant though -

The stock market thing was just-about plausible, but the Kate Adie thing annoyed me.

Me either, but his character in this is brilliant.
Another one. I can't stand him, but his character is fantastic. -
You've both swayed me totally now. Definitely going to see some episodes. Seems like it's got a strange mix of cast members, but in a good way.
