    Styx: shards of darkness

Free on GwG at the minute, its a game I want to like but its very clunky, climbing and jumping can be a pain and make you reload a save. (make sure to save often) The rope swinging is like something from 15 or 20 years ago. You need to save a lot as the AI is dumb or very cheap. Just did the mission where if you get spotted for a second its game over, you enemy does not need to even hit the alarms around the place

Just watched some reviews the game does the same shit as the 1st game it seems get locked in prison again then you replay the same levels you played through but with cheap, unkillable enemies (iirc)

Also Styx is still a terrible character, he is like late 1990's edgy. In fact he is even more 4th wall breaking and annoying.

Prey (Gamepass PC). Oh God, what was I thinking. Definitely not for me. Expected a Dead Space, what I got was a Bioshock. To my defense I knew almost nothing about the game before starting it. That intro though...wow.

That's a shame, it's a bloody amazing game, one that struck a chord with me as I was going through a gaming slump at the time.

Fun fact, this game and its development make an appearance in Paul Verhoeven's movie Elle (which is also a bit edgy and annoying).

    @General_Martok

It's so time intensive, the dialogue and story are amazing but it feels like watching a one and a half hour movie and playing for 30 minutes. Just don't have the mindset to continue that at the moment.

Prey was about 6 hours longer than it needed to be. Good enough otherwise.

It's an awful, awful game, one of the worst this generation.
This is bizarre. I can understand not liking it, but one of the worst of the generation? Really?

Weirdos. It's one of the best games of the generation. Absolutely amazing game. As a straight up shooter it's very average but like bioshock it's best when you play creative.
To me it's a great mix of bioshock, system shock and half life. Three of the best games ever.

It's Fuzzy, he has no nuance. It's either amazing or the worst thing ever. Or the Travelling community.

Prey was a very good game. Not brilliant, but very good. A worthier successor to System Shock than BioShock was.

Prey to me felt more like Deus Ex, the modern version. The emphasis on multiple ways to complete an objective rather than Bioshock’s shoot things or use a power in particular.

It did feel stately, which might be a fancy way of saying laggy or a deliberate attempt by the developers to hide input lag. You get used to it.

I spent about 32 hours on it, thoroughly enjoyed it, but I’m in no hurry to restart it.

Even after the patch the input lag was too much for me to enjoy it properly. I hate that shit.

It was alright. Takes too long to get going and there’s too much fucking around going from one end of the station to the other, but it was decent enough.

I mean, it’s bioshock in space, for better or worse.

I’ve not played prey in about 18 months now, quite enjoyed it but found the enemy variety and design very lacking. Another game on the pause pile.

I had it on release and played it like a standard shooter, binned it about half way and thought it was boring. About a year later I bought it again and played it creative and used everything at my disposal, using the environment and traps etc and loved every minute.

I suppose it depends on how you play it. I developed a coping strategy for how shonky the combat is by carrying a turret everywhere and letting them deal with it.

I hardly killed anything directly as I pumped everything into engineering and threw one of them into a room and hid until the shooting stopped, repeat until credits.

I increased my strength to the max and used that for almost the entire game. It's funny how quickly a giant alien abomination can die when you throw a ton of bricks on them.
