Yeah, like that. It's not pretentious, it's brilliant but it doesn't show off so it hides it beneath psychos and poop jokes. I think understatement is the word.
    Understatement? Borderlands?

For a game about shooting for the guns to feel so piddly and the enemies AI to be none existent is pretty unforgivable to me. I've always found it weird how highly thought of it is.

Yeah plus one. I think it's a bit fat smelly pile of wank. Tried multiple times to try and get into it and between the cringe worthy humour, the crap environments, the massively overrated gunplay and the shitty AI I've binned it off every single time.

Also agree that Tales is the only good thing the series has ever produced.

    Remnant: From Ashes

I got to the final boss and realised I couldn't be fucked finishing it.

    Smash Bros Ultimate

Booted up the game, saw the amount of stuff I needed to unlock, played a few versus matches half-heartedly, spent a little bit of time in training mode trying to work the mechanics out, and put the game back in it's box.

I don't think I've ever had such a strong feeling of a game just not being for me.

Hah, I did the same thing. I really should try to get it done but the final boss seemed annoying so I just cba.

The final boss is actually easy as shit so if you're that close you may as well do him.

@wuntyate okay, I will have a blast, I was just a bit blergh about what was happening and then just sort of stopped. Unusual for me and bosses as I usually enjoy the masochism.

@Mr_Sleep unless a patch has altered it, i was surprised just how easy and a non event it was. Much harder boss fights in the game.

The hardest by far was the double butterflies. That single player took a lot of precision.

Oh. Yes. I struggled with that tbh.

Plague Tale Innocence. Was kinda novel and fun at the beginning, but got stale fast. Plus my Gamepass sub ended and I was too lazy to renew, as I tried almost everything there was for me.
I didn't care much about the characters in the game which is perhaps the main reason why one should play this genre(?) FWIW, the game is very pretty and I found French accents amusing...But I HATE rats.

Fucking ori and the blind bastard forest.

Fucking thing. Starts off nice enough, jumping about and killing stuff, then it gives you a pixel perfect-required section with deadly thorns as the floor where you have to juggle your skills like fuck in 1 millisecond to get through it. Fine - done that bit after dying 40 times.

Then the next area. Thorns. The whole area.

    And the next area.

Fucks sake, what's the obsession with bloody thorns and instadeath everywhere?

    Slung it.

Just uninstalled Plague Tale too. Couldn't find it in me to go on, the story and dialogue was getting too stupid imho. The puzzles were always too obvious as well.

I don't remember Ori being that hard (except for the tree escape), but generally agree about the overuse of thorns and other tropey platformey things.

I was curious about Ori and have been tempted to try it but I'm the same as you, can't be arsed wih rock hard platforming anymore. So don't think I'll bother.

Iím stuck somewhere in ori, itís great but has some nasty spikes and if you donít push through them it makes it very difficult to come back to. Guess I need to with 2 coming.
I bought the original but the def Ed is in gamepass, whatís different? Donít suppose saves will transfer.

Ori wasn't very hard at all. Maybe one or two sections, but by the time I actually got to play the game, they had been patched to get checkpoints anyway.

Ori isn't as easy as you'd think after the first 20 minutes or so, but it's still not nearly as hard as something like Celeste, or Super Meat Boy.

I remember a bit of escaping, so maybe Iím beyond that, I remember a few Bits like that so assumed the pattern was, traverse a new area then run the gauntlet out of there. I actually abandoned it somewhere in between a section where I just couldnít get past the grind of baddies. I will give it another try but Iím not restarting I donít think.

I binned Ori for the same reason, pleasant enough to start with, a lovely start and world to explore and then difficulty spikes that killed the enjoyment.

I'm enjoying Ori. I think I prefer the more platformer-focused end of Metroidvanias to be honest.

Binned off Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night the other day. Played briefly beyond the first bad ending, which didn't really feel like a proper ending so I can't really say I finished the game. Looked up how much I had left and decided to drop it.

My main problem with the game was with the sluggishness of the movement and combat compared to older Castlevania games. I know they're different types of games but Dead Cells in comparison has really precise and meaty combat - playing that fairly recently makes it stand out to me how Bloodstained just isn't near as good in this respect. I just didn't enjoy the boss fights for the most part unfortunately and the story is pretty forgettable too.

Shame because I was looking forward to it. I like the world design and atmosphere a lot but I realised I was forcing myself through it and I have too many other games I'd rather play.

Ok, so I'm adding Ori to my "not on your fucking life, I got through Horace somehow and that was enough" list.

Edit: Though by the sound of things, Ori isn't actually as bad as Horace.

    Ori wasn't really that bad.
