    On the subject of Portal....

    Bridge Constructor Portal (Xbone)

So, I navigate a fiddly menu system to lay some bridge bits.... And then spend ages creating tiny triangles in order to support the bridge. To then watch a buggy fly through the air after taking off of a bridge and hope the trajectory is right to go through a portal.

    No!

    Utter dross.

I quite liked it, although I can definitely see why most people would not.

I did complete it back in the days, but i repeatedly stopped my replays in the liquid part because it's such an endless depressing slog

Wolfenstein Youngblood (PC Gamepass) - not for me. The amount of polish is incredible, how do they make the two heroines have such amazing shiny eyes I wonder. Other than that, ugh... Just no.

Ok, so I'm adding Ori to my "not on your fucking life, I got through Horace somehow and that was enough" list.

Edit: Though by the sound of things, Ori isn't actually as bad as Horace.
It will depend. I have a low tolerance to sections in games where there's no breathing room and it goes on for an extended amount of time. I don't mind really hard bits where I can prepare in advance and then give it a go, but later on in ori (6 or 7 hours in, in the misty woods for people that have played it) I just realised that the whole game was preparing you for these said tricky sections as they are out in earnest later on. Couldn't get on with that. You might though. The challenge, and all that. Whatever the fuck that is.
Just reloaded this and thatís where I am, itís just too finickety, and reliant on the right combat run through, itía just frustrating, and reminds me of the game at its worst. Hard to get back into from here.

Yeah I agree with that too. It isn't hard - you just have to get into the mindset to do it. I can't be arsed with getting into that mindset because it feels like a waste of time so I out something else on that I enjoy instead.

Oh yeah 100% agree... there were clearly points in the game that i just had to push through because it was pretty as opposed to enjoying the gameplay.

It was a good game though, just a few annoying sections.

    Well, Sekiro was hard too.

I spent my entire time playing that game convinced I had hit the brick wall that was going to end my time with it.

Yeah my time is limited for those types of games. I used to push through them but I can't be arsed anymore

Iím close to completing Ori and Iím generally quite shit at games.

Edit: To be fair Iíve been really enjoying the game and the difficulty of a game is obviously affected by how much youíre enjoying it, including how willing you are to persevere with its challenging moments.

I abandoned Bloodstained recently and just wasnít having fun with it, to the point where every boss fought that I wasnít beating on my first attempt made me consider dropping the game.

    @Dombat

Yeah I'm the same - if I'm not enjoying it, it gets binned. I'm playing through resident evil 4 again in the Wii for the same reason that it clicks and I love shooting zombies in the face, even if it hasn't aged that well!

@quadfather I only played RE4 for the first time ever last month. Stunned by how amazing it is even after all these years.

Yup. Has always been one of my regrets missing it. It came out at the time that I'd pretty much ditched gaming for quite a few years so it completely bypassed me. THat's been rectified now. Utterly brilliant.

@quaddy PS4 version. Took a bit of getting used to at first but once it clicked it was grand.

Red Dead Redemption 2. I feel like I've been playing it for two hours, and all I've done is walk slowly through the snow.

It's almost as much of a slog as the 10 hour Assassin's Creed 3 intro.

Fucking hell these games take themselves a bit seriously don't they.

@Rodney wait! It's an amazing game. Yeah the snow intro drags on way way too long but it gets good soon..

Maybe, but I just feel games like this disrespect my time - so it get pissed off with them.

The storytelling isnt good enough to carry it so don't make me walk slowly for two hours through the snow

@Rodney I totally get you. BUUUUUT. The story and characters are bloody amazing in Rdr2. If you can stick with it past the opening!

Yeah, I'll probably try again in a few days, and try and remember the controls

Another minor irritation, I really wanted to see what this game looked like in 4k on Xbox X. The snow looked good, but not the long draw distances and fancy lighting I was looking forward to seeing.

I got to the shootout with rifles which was fun - but then it was back to more fucking walking and talking

    Recently abandoned games (Gamepass PC):

    Sea of Thieves
    Outer Worlds
    State of Decay 2
    ReCore
    Scourge Bringer
    Pathologicv 2
    Phoenix Point
    My friend Pedro
    Children of Morta
    Darksiders 3
    Riverbond
    Vambrace: Cold Soul
    Sunset Overdrive
    Dead Cells
    ...and many more

It's Microsoft's fault though, for making it so incredibly cheap to just try and not buy.
/Might return to some of them another time, maybe. But it's a huge maybe.

Tempted to ditch Final Fantasy XII. This is the third time I've tried to get into it and I always get about 6 hours in. I think the combat for me just doesn't gel. I feel like I'm not doing anything which is a bit boring.
