No no, fret not, it's all a misunderstanding. That's a spoiler for John Wick!

Pretty much my thoughts. I bailed on episode 2.
I bailed after finishing Episode 1.

Story just wasn't clicking for me. And the technical limitations seemed more obvious.

This is from someone who adored LiS and thought it was an amazing experience. I was really disappointed.

It's okay, but the main driving factor (the little brother) is such an annoying little cunt it's hard to get invested. Its not even like the decisions I was making were overly authoritarian, I let him get away with some little things while still trying to drive basic values and morality into him at the same time and he did nothing but argue and defy every last thing I said for three of the episodes in a way that simply was not believable.

Currently 2/3 episodes through Before the Storm and it's just so much more enjoyable.

    Horizon: Zero Dawn

Coming off Spiderman PS4 and The Last of Us Part II. Gave it a good 10 hours, but just not clicking with me. Aloy seems a good enough lead character, but can't be arsed with the amount of menu time required to fuck about with adding upgrades to weapons and the whole world, whilst very pretty, seems very video-gamey in the sense that I'm the only one who actually seems alive in it. A shame, but spoilt by 2 stunners before it and life's too short for games that don't click.

Alien Isolation. I... nah. I don't really get what I'm supposed to do, it's super slow and tedious, it bombards me with scared horror soundtrack while I don't feel any, and crappy door-opening minigames drive me crazy in any game.

I also thought it'd be more open-ended, i.e. you're actually navigating and searching through the station (more like Metroid for example), but in fact it's as linear as Half-Life, at least it is some 2 hours in. Oh, and knee-high impassable objects sucked in 1993 already. And having to go around the opposite end of the entire entrance area because you can't traverse a 1.5m plank is baffling.

Nah I don't like this. But to be fair, I don't really like any stealth game.

@DrStrangelove Almost the same for me. I didn't get very far and I really despise any stealth in any game really.

Atmosphere was great and the story seemed engaging but as soon as the Alien showed up I lost interest pretty quick, which is weird for an Alien game.

Having more free reign to search the station whilst continuously being hunted and constantly getting lost and going the wrong way sounds like the worst possible thing they could have done. Thank god it was linear.

If you're not a fan of stealth games then you are very much playing the wrong game. It was heavily advertised that you had to hide from the alien.

Well I got it for free and knew very little about it. I love horror and suspense, and occasional stealth is ok, like in RE7 or outlast or something, but all the time, nah.

Isolation opens up a bit more towards the very end - you can backtrack and explore a bit if you want. Though by that point, the alien attacks are pretty relentless and the path to the next objective is still pretty linear if you want to follow it.

    Axiom Verge

It's not bad, I managed to play some 6 hours, but I don't have much patience for metroidvanias these days, and one without any form of fast travel is just asking to be dropped eventually.

I guess the developer was too busy looking at Super Metroid to notice that the genre had evolved in the next 20 years?

    Flashback

Gave it a go because it was super cheap in an eShop sale, but it's just archaic. Hateful controls, and I spent half an hour wandering around the same 4 or so screens with no idea where I was supposed to be going, and didn't even care enough to look up a guide.

Gave it a quick try. It's as bad as I figured. Maybe it was better in 2003, but... probably not.

    Agents of Mayhem

Got this on disc for something silly like £3 a couple of years ago. It's by no means terrible, but Saints Row 3 remastered had scratched that particular open world itch recently enough.

Some of the characters are just plain awful though!

    Last guardian

For a game that was in development for years they really fucked up. Looks like a ps3 updated a bit for ps4 (which might of happened) also its a bit dull to play. EG gave it essential, which is a joke as was reading the review and thought it was Edwin review at the start with so much filler and shite at the start

Close to abandoning Onimusha Warlords on Switch. At a section with three instadeath puzzles in a row, the last one is timed and if you make a mistake, back to the last save with unskippable cutscenes to repeat the whole lot again. No excuse for this shit in a remaster in 2020, absolute dogshit. Was loving it otherwise but it is so frustrating it is pretty much unplayable.

100% agree. They pushed out a broken game and it didnít deserve the praise it got.

Itís a shame, because Ico and Shadows were both great.
