I think PC is inevitable, but I can't see them doing a next gen version for at least 3 reasons: 1) No install base 2) Too much would be expected of it. We wouldn't settle on a mere graphical upgrade like PC owners would. We'd want all new everything! 3) The budget to make #2 happen would send the overall budget skyrocketing. |

Registered 14 years agoTrevor is quite clearly going to be the stand out character in this. I can see the other two being a bit bland as we have seen similar characters in previous GTA games, but we've yet to play as a bat-shit insane druggy, and that sounds great to me. -

Is the PC version of IV anything other than a graphical upgrade? I was thinking that's all V would be. Whereas, if they put it on next gen they'd want to do all new animations, physics, etc., along with adding features.
Which is what I feel would push the budget too high. If they're just going to do a graphical upgrade in line with what they'll do for PC, then I could believe it. -

I believe it! I'm sure it runs a billion times more smoothly as well.
To be honest even as just a graphical update people even today still drop their jaw when I show them their beloved GTA4 on a PC..gif)
Thinking about it from an alt. POV, I might be convinced: Regardless of Rockstar's interests, it's in MS and Sony's interests to get this on next gen. I wouldn't be shocked if we hear later that a few mil. changed hands to make it happen.

Registered 11 years agoHow many people would actually wait for a next-gen version should one be announced? I think I would try but it would be hard to ignore it for a couple of months. I'm not convinced it will happen yet anyway though. -

Registered 10 years ago@bad09 Well that was just a lone I'm not a fan of timed exclusive so its good to hear they don't want to do that again.
But then is Agent still PS only? -

Registered 10 years agoLast i heard was at E3 last yeah on gametrailers. Jack Tretton was asked about it and he actually looked sad when he said you will have to ask R*. He couldn't even say if it was still exclusive to the PS. -

Registered 11 years ago@bad09 Well that's true, but I'm assuming that if they were to announce next gen versions in a couple weeks then the gap between PS3 and PS4 release wouldn't be more than a few months apart. I wouldn't imagine a lot fo people would buy a game on release with the full intention of buying it for full price again just a few months down the line.
I think they'd be better off not announcing next gen versions until early next year if they want people to double dip. They'd probably get me that way anyway! -

Registered 9 years agoTrevor looks like the best character. Some nice looking vehicles in those trailers. Hope we can drive the tractor that would be fun in multiplayer -

Registered 19 years agoTriple Trailer Analysis, eh?
This is what is going to be most unbearable about the wait for the game for me - people going on and on and on about it.
Especially when he's got so many of the car names wrong - Michael's car isn't a convertible Sentinel, it's a Feltzer - nor is there a 'convertible Cheetah' in Franklin's video, it's a Banshee.
Amateurs.
edit:
Oh man, it's totally a convertible Sentinel. Who is the amateur now, eh?

Registered 18 years agoI think that the 3 trailers and the characters they are portraying, are very similar to the 3 previous games.
Franklin is CJ - San Andreas with all the refrences
Trevor is Niko - GTA IV - the crazy out there guy
Michael is Tommy Vercetti - Vice City
I think it is quite a clever way of bringing all of the things that people loved from all the previous games into one.. then there is something for everyone who has a favourtie in the franchise so far... -

Registered 15 years agoMichael actually still sounds like Ray Liotta (hence all the earlier rumours about Vercetti) in the new trailer, very disconcerting -

Registered 10 years agoI posted that before i started watching but yes they made a fair few mistakes.
Hell it completely misses out Trevor hitting a Lost member with a bat. -
Just watched the trailers and enjoyed them (as far as GTA cut-scenes go, anyway). This has probably already mentioned but, Michael is based on/played by Michael Madsen right? Because he's the spitting image. Also sure I spotted Jonah Hill in there at one point.
