Not a bad price I think. Not really worried about trading too much yet though, still haven't got massive amounts of resources to sell and since I'm not sure what I'll need myself for upgrades etc. best not to sell everything just yet... johnlenham- Not sure but possibly it's because Wine Press takes a friggin age to upgrade, and the deck weapons and ship maintenance are basic researchables... |

Registered 14 years agoIve been trying to get glass out of the larger player He recons I should build a small army and go raid other people for it :S
Edit: Yeah i thought that but it was odd it quoted me an hour for each and it was done in less than 5. Not complaining though
Edit2:
Yeah heres what he said.
if you have a trading post you can get it tht way, or you can find someone from a different island and ask to trade with them?
or jus attack them lol. -

Sounds like he's taken a page out of the Lionel Luthor Guide to Tough Love. -

I figured out that this is what I did earlier too. It takes all the accumulated time you've spent on wne press and applies it to the seafaring focus.
Oh my LOL
I decided to switch from 7hours left on a wine press to deck weapons, I tab to travian and back and Deck weapons, and Ship Mantinence have finished and im 32% into expansion. Wtf is that supposed to happen lol?
Edit: oh and it also quoted me on taking 1hour 20 mins for each of them o_O
If level 1=1 hour research, 2=2, 3=3, etc, then if you had 10 mins to go on a level 4 and switched to another discipline it will put 3 hours 50 mins into that area, completing lvls 1 and 2 instantly and put 50 mins into lvl3. Change back to the original lvl4 research and you'll be back at 10 mins with 3 hours 50 mins to go.

And am I doing something wrong or is winepress really supposed to take "1D 16h 24m 04s"? -

Registered 18 years agoThe number of hours displayed is based on the number of research points you produce per hour and the number of research points the tech needs to be completed. Since you used the research points from Wine Press, technically you did spend 1 hour on it.
I makes sense that you don't lose anything when switching, because sometimes you will not be there to choose what to focus on next exactly when the previous research was finished.
In terms of resources, I have a feeling that I will need quite a lot of marble soon, because most upgrades rely on it. But also wine, because without it my population's growth might stop... -

Once I've got my trading post upgrading we can get a trading treaty up and running. If you happen to have extra glass lying around I need some, but I'm guessing not since your island is a sulphur pit. Probably smells positively delightful over there. -

Just out of interest, what kind of culture would you all make your islands if you could? Celtic? Romanic? Oriental? Warmongerers like the Lenhamonians? -

We gonna create a mass 'alliance' when we are able? A EuroGamers federation of states or something? -
I'm up for a US of EG.
By the way, am considering going on a pillage on an inactive town on my island, but just wanna make sure he's inactive. The town's name is "Polis I". Does that mean it's inactive? -

Yes. Yes we are.gif)
And the (i) in brackets does mean they are inactive L-S. -
The I isn't in brackets though and it's a capital letter, so I'm guessing he's not inactive then.
Also wondering, do you lot reckon 12 slingers are enough to pillage a level 2 town? -

Registered 15 years agoI pillaged an inactive, but I lost. I only used one little slinger.
I'm gonna try again after I build up an army, and get some spies. -
I pillaged a city belonging to a 'Princess Lilly'. It fell to my 13 slingers. But I received no loot, which makes me think I wasted my money

Registered 18 years agoFrom the offense/defense guide:
"The town hall also has an attack value which is somewhere between 14 and 39.In other words if you attack an undefended city with just one slinger or swordsman it will die and you lose the battle, but if you attack with one phalanx it will survive and win you the battle."
Can you afford 13 slingers? The upkeep is quite high, I'd rather use my money on something else, especially considering that there isn't much that the enemy could take from me at this stage.
(On the other hand they did seem to increase your score quite a lot, right now you are the number one EGer, followed by FWB and me. Micro and Derblington falling behind
.) -
Grr. Just checked and you're ahead of me again! Going to have to start getting serious. By the way, I need rocks and glass! Anyone send me some in exchange for some of my delicious wine? Micro, Tabasco, Thrawn, I'm looking at you! -
How do you see the scores quickly? Or did you enter all names manually? -

I can trade you like 100 sulfer for wine!
3 per hour at my tavern will see me dry in about18 hours
And when you get pro army you can get some real soldiers

I knew you'd all need me. How bout I send you 50 wine for 50 sulphur for now. I don't really need the sulphur and should keep some wine saved for when I can trade for some marble/crystal. What do you say, deal? -

What kind of armies are you all keeping? I'm a pacifist at heart and it irks to pay upkeep on soldiers, especially when I hardly use them... Still, keeping a ram boat up could be useful in case of would-be pillagers...
Edit- It's actually spelled irk, coming from Nordic yrkja ‘to work.’ In case anyone was interested. -
