Bloody double-standards, I even was rather friendly and told him it's nothing personal, just politics, in reply to his earlier txtspk messages, but I bet I am in a proper war now. Let's see what happens next. :-)

Anyone got a bit of spare Marble knocking about? Swimming in crystal if you need it.

I've only recently begun gathering the stuff so it's coming in at a trickle for now (22 per hour) but if you really need some marble urgently, give me a shout. For now I only have 50 to spare I'm afraid but feel free to call upon me tomorrow for more

I could do with some crystal and wine meself although I don't need much at my level (town hall = 4)

Expect 300 crystal in about a day!

No rush on the Marble now. Picked up a few bargains to see me though my next bout of expansion.

Anyone needs some crystal and has some wine lying around.
The population growth of my capital is really abysmal. I've got around 300 crystal in return.

Im overflowing with marble if anyone needs it? I could do with some crystal.
Also how many people if any left to join as I would have to upgrade again to get another point to let them in and so far its at level 5 lol.

Lou I've sent you 300 sulphur in return for the wine you sent t'other day.

I could use some marble and can exchange wine/sulphur for it atm.

My research is aiming towards foreign cultures as we speak, so if I could join the mighty alliance that would be great.

Sorry Lou, i've had to pull that ship back as it was using up an action point (something I only just realised are important) I need. I'll reroute the ship through my colony which has a spare point.

This feels alot more fun, being able to barter for goods and generally do stuff. Wine sells like hot cakes and I consume far less than I produce.

I do need marble however to expand further, trade anyone?

Marble is pretty important for later building upgrades.

If anyone feels like flexing their military muscle, here's a target for you: Veggetossj of Akai Settlement at Ceratia [12:53]. He's been harrassing me for a full day now, 5 consecutive attacks and I'm certain there are more coming my way. Considering my town is 6 levels below his there's bugger all I can do about it

He's in the 1100 points range, so no easy pickings for sure.

Sorry man, an army isn't for me in this game I don't think...I quite enjoy the lighter side to the game with trading and such. Travian is excellent for building up of armies and this is scratching the trading/ diplomacy itch. I did try with a fairly wee army at first, 5 swords I think, did some raiding but found the upkeep cost was pretty high, particularly when actually raiding/attacking...

If you have professional army build a few phlanx, they will fend off loads of stuff with a decent wall

What kind of troops did he use to attack you, and how many, did you see anything in the combat report?

Maybe we could make a combined effort, marilena blocking his port and we sending troops over from time to time. He's 17 hours away from me though.

He's only been using slingers so far, just always more (and more powerful ones) than I can build. I reckon he relies on spies to determine approximately how many troops he needs to beat me, so this probably isn't indicative of his real military power. Well, unless he's organising dozens of such small raids; then he probably has few troops at home but that's impossible to tell of course.

Problem is I don't have the sulfur to build anything more advanced.
Sending over goods right now doesn't seem like the wisest idea either because I may very well not be present when they arrive, giving him (or another player) ample time to plunder them off me. I can't be on-line most of the time unfortunately, so I'm rather open to attack.

I suppose I'll have to stay low profile for now and avoid stockpiling too many resources :-/

You can stockpile resources, just don't upgrade your trade harbour as it is the harbour's level that determines how much can be looted- leave it at level 1, the only disadvantage is that loading/unloading ships will take longer.

Demolish it if you already upgraded it past level 1.

He's very, very far from me, it will take a day for my troops to arrive. Don't count on them to get you out of anything sticky.

I'll still send them, though, as I'm not particularly fussed about being economic right now (you don't want to know how much the raid will cost me) and I'm curious how it can evolve. Even if I lose, I can raise a rather big army before he can retaliate.

Edit: My spy checked him, he has 6 slingers and 6 phalanx in a Level 10 town with a Level 5 wall. I think I can beat him, but it will only happen later tonight.

I desperately need some marble now though, no bugger is selling it reasonably and my colonies are maxing out.
