|I have 10000 words in by wednesday... have 2000.|
Anyone else still up doing an essay that's in for tomorrow? • Page 2
I finished my dissertation this morning, day before deadline. Handed it in and just wanted to run back into the Law undergraduate office screaming 'IVE MADE A HORRIBLE MISTAKE< GIVE IT BACK'
It's done now, though. 16 days to learn four modules now, yippee.
I feel for you poor cunts having to do night shifts.
Doing alright actually, those 2000 words only took about 2 hours, and the next chapter is by far the hardest which is why it's taking time, the final 2 chapters are things I know very well, making the last 5k a walk in the park.
Just trying to tackle the hard stuff first.
Never change the title. Doubly so without consulting your tutors.
You might end-up getting no marks because they don't recognise the essay title you used against the essay titles they issued.
/hopes no tutors are that thick, but worries that one or two might be
Argh this is so hard. Well, it's easy enough to write, but I have literally no references with which to support my opinions. I can write a bibliography using books that I haven't read from Amazon or something, but I need some quotes.
Are they no on-line sources like Google books you can use?
From my essay writing experience (which admittedly is now a long time ago), the longer the bibliography the better, regardless of whether you actually consulted them or not. However, best to check a little deeper than the titles.
A friend of mine wrote an essay on sexual relations and listed "How to Hug" in his bibliography. He's tutor called him up and asked him how did he manage to use volume XVI of the Oxford English Dictionary for his essay.
/realises that joke probably wasn't worth the effort of typing, but it's done now
I'm in my 1st year and so far I've left everything to the last minute. I really just can't get motivated until it's too late. I just spend the whole day before, finding stuff I can use on google scholar and writing as much as I can. I just use it for quotes mind you, usually I know enough about the question to write a decent answer already.
/has no other essays to do this semester
/looks at exam dates
I've found Google books to be a lifesaver, I've found so much information in some of those things. Still, nothing beats a 'proper' book as you have all the pages. Nothing more annoying than finding a great quote on Google books and finding it's not there. But often I'd just copy and paste the quote or words up until the end of the preview, and then somewhere on the internet there'd be the full text which I could just reference as being in the book, albeit on the following page.
Slightly risky, but it's worth it. I only did that for about 5% of my sources, too.
Ah, my 12000 words are done and dusted. That's 90000 characters. Just exams from now on in.
Course you can. Maybe Caucasian for White but you should be OK. As long as the context is right - no "the blacks" etc
i have about 8000 words to do by friday for my final year dissetation. i just havent bothered at all the whole 3 years. I too just cant get motivated until the last few days.
ecureil have you thought of looking at the United Colours of Benneton advertising campaigns? They are very famous for being controversial and they probably fit the bill for your essay.

Got about 9000 words of essays due next week (3 essays in total). Though after looking at some of the other assignments listed in the thread, it could be worse.
edit: it could've been worse actually because my huge animation assignment was due that same week, but thankfully got pushed back.
"As quoted by XYZ, taken from ABC by EDF". Or something like that. Been a while mind....
@ecu, what subject are you doing? That determines it.
"blah blah blah," wrote Dougs, in his book How to Attribute.
That'll work. I'd be quite happy with that nod.
get some red bull if you think you will be up all night
