How do I go about referencing someone, if I want a use a quote someone else has used in their book?

Say Dave Gorman wrote a shitty book, he'd be referenced with a footnote, and the footnote is Author, Title (in italics) and Publisher, location and year in brackets, along with the page number you got the quote from.

Dave Gorman, Shitty book (ShitPublisher, Essex 2001) p. 21

Oh God, I remember nights (mornings) like the one you're having now. Every, single, essay would result in a late night session of panic, stress and ultimately a rather shoddy assignment.

So foolish of me not to do them earlier, I had no excuse though, just general procrastination.

Once I had 3 due in a week, all accomplished in the same last minute fashion. The final essay of the week I finished around 4am. Not too bad I thought, generally it'd be an hour or so before the deadline. As a reward I gave myself a few hours sleep, woke up 2 hours after deadline :(

It's strange, despite really not being that much of a hardship those last minute essays resulted in some of the most stressful periods of time I've ever encountered. I wrote endlessly about them in the depression thread, that's how bad I felt in those few hours before deadline...mad, absolutely insane of me :p

It's no fun if you don't sit up with the red bull and coffee the night before.

    1600 instead of 2000?
Go on. Go back and do some padding!
  • Deleted user 21 April 2009 00:07:29
Sometimes it's better to hand it in short than it is to pad it out, especially if you think you've said everything that needs to be covered. Though 20% is prolly pushing that a little bit.

I've handed in essays that have been nearly 10% out of the word count, yet got decent marks for them.

Go for another 200 words, you should be able to find that.

My uni is very liberal on word counts, in fact the count is usually the maximum they will accept, falling short of it is generally the way forward, though they don't really care how long it all is as long as it serves it's purpose.

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess you'll find one with the hour and tell us all about it.

Modern technology didn't make me more productive, rather it had an inverse effect when it came to essays and dissertations. It engaged my OCD tendencies and I'd be constantly checking my word count instead of knuckling down.

1,500! Only 23,500 to go! 2000! Only 23,000 to go! 2259! Only 20,041 to go! Etc.

what the problem? Just find a writing service and ask they to
I know he's a spammer and will get banned, but I want to quote this for the next spammer so they know what NOT to do if they're advertising a service that primarily requires at least a basic grasp of the English language.
