My compilation is up and available

    Pete's Summer Tunes

Here's the tracklisting and some comments

    1. Peaches - Dub Pistols featuring Rodney P - I love this cover, if you can call it that. A nice summer song with a UK hiphop twist

    2. James Bond - Jackie Mittoo - If you're gonna be out cruising in your spy car, you need a theme tune with a bit more of a summer vibe to it. This is 200% awesome.

    3. The Jam (remix) - A Tribe Called Quest - aaaah I love this track. It's about a hot summer night of parties and bullshit, and the remix is lovely and chilled. Good times, good times.

    4. Low Rider - War - A classic. Nice and cheerful, another for playing in your souped up, lowered Vauxhall Nova while cruising the Brighton seafront. Plus it's the Marmite tune, therefore brilliant

    5. Louie Louie - Toots and the Maytals - What better music to get down to than Louie Louie? I'll tell you what's better: a raggae version. Oh yeah, shake that ass.

    6. Calfornia Soul - Marlena Shaw - such a good song. Everyone will have heard this, but it's so good that it should definitely be included here. Conjures images of lazy, sunny evenings spent sipping brewskies with your trusties.

    7. Love to Angie vs I wish I Didn't Miss You - Red Astaire & Angie Stone - ooo lord the party is heating up. Brilliant track, moody and soulful. Love the drums.

    8. Compatible (remix) - Up Hygh - up tempo, balearic and funky. Nice.

    9. Damn (remix) - Tim Juke feat. Kinny - some happy, light but nonetheless banging drum and bass to keep your bare feets dancing

    10. Tuesday's Gone - Lynryd Skynyrd - ok folks, party is over now, time to head on home. I love this song, kind of happily melancholy. Perfect to end an evening

    Enjoy :D

    POW

It's a glorious day and this thread deserves a bump, not least so more peoples can grab smoothpete's excellent compilation.
  • Deleted user 23 May 2008 12:55:16
smoothpete's collection was all kinds of awesome. I was listening to it yesterday while having a tear round in PGR4.

I might stick something up over the weekend if you're all good boys and girls.
  • Deleted user 23 May 2008 12:56:47
Yours was on as well Gremmi and also very good. Except Africa. I thought you'd thrown it all away until the mighty Splash Wave.

Thinking of version two for this concept.

The sun has been out proper style. I've moved from socks and shoes to the sandals stage of the year.

I can offer hosting for anyone who needs some space to hold MP3s

Perhaps it would be a good idea to start an EG group for this, and future mixtape projects.
  • Deleted user 27 May 2008 11:31:43

Some good suggestions in this thread but no summer mixtape is complete without some Fun Lovin Criminals.
