    I try so hard to like basketball, I really do, but essentially it bores the shit out of me!

    No, I'm listening to a radio broadcast through nba.com, I thought some of the US/Canada guys on here might be watching. NASN should have NBA coverage next year, though, to add to Channel 5's output. I get to watch in work, but I'm off for five days so have to listen to two game 7s on the radio. :(

    Sticky: Well, I can see a lot of criticisms of basketball, but... boring? It's explosive! Needs more "bosh" factor, though, I'll agree, and some small rule changes to make it appeal more.

    LeBron just about keeping Cleveland in the game, but he's not doing a good enough job of contesting Pierce's outside shots by the sounds of things. Z and Wally will surely make a couple of buckets at some stage, but LeBron might need to hit 50 is Cleveland are going to pull off the upset.

    I think I find it boring simply because I don't 'get' it, like most people find American Footie boring, yet I'll (and you too I know) happily watch it for hours because I know what's going on and the intricacies and tactics.

    With basketball, I just see 10 blokes running up and down the court. 2 points, 2 points, 2 points, OOO 3 points, 2 points, 2 pointzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

    I'm sure it's great really! Once I get round to ordering NASN I'm sure I'll be converted.

    Ah, I kind of see what you mean. A lot of basketball is off the ball, probably more than casual watchers realize, and it's less obvious than in some other sports with a lot of off-the-ball action.

    Cool! I'm a complete noob when it comes to sopcast and the like, but that's good enough for me.

    edit: I presume the Spurs/Hornets game will be available tomorrow? That myp2p site the best one for looking for links?

    Not too sure if the myp2p site is the best or not as I just happened to stumble on it when looking for some NBA streams a while back. As long as I can watch it I'm happy :)

    Fair enough. :)

    Proper game on here, too, going into the fourth. Would love to see Cleveland win.

    Lol, I'm rooting for the Celtics :)

    Ray Allen isn't having too good a game though from what I've seen - missed a couple of wide open 3's

    This is nice, my sports threads usually see zero replies, or at least zero on-topic replies. ^_^

    Great game, not too disappointed Boston went through as I agree an LA/Boston match up would make for the best finals.

    I'm feeling like a bit of a jinx, though, as I said to my buddy at the end of 3 in the Jazz/Lakers game 6 that I thought Utah would still have had a chance if they had made their final three of the quarter - they lost by three. Now I call James to need 50 to win the game, he finishes with 45 and the Cavs go down by five. ^^;

    Hopefully SA/NO will buck the trend of that series and be just as close tomorrow - pulling for the Spurs, though, as much as Chris Paul is great to watch Tony Parker/Manu/Timmeh is my favorite trio of players in the league.

    Absolutely love American football and Baseball, but basketball, not so much. I understand the one on one matchups and the sheer athleticism of 6'10+ human beings, i even enjoy playing it as a video game from time to time, but its never captured my imagination to the same extent.

    No, it's definitely not as "epic" as football or bases, in fact I prefer college hoops from that point of view. The back and forth nature of the game makes wonderfully tense at times, though, the importance of possession is very finely balanced, and momentum shifts are hugely important and directly impact on the score, and thus directly affect the game, a lot more than, say, soccer. I think that can lead to an individual game (the game 7 earlier, for instance) being maybe more gripping than the sport itself appears, whereas some sports (baseball and soccer are two good examples) can be great overall, but can have some truly dire individual matches, especially on big occasions. Not that every NBA is amazing, of course.

    The other thing I love about it (and I'm not sure how many other modern sports this applies to, certainly modern team sports) is that it was drawn up initially purely for the sake of making a new game, rather than simply adapting an exisiting sport or pastime into a more formalized/slightly changed rule structure, and is extremely similar now to how it started.

    The NBA's in a great place right now in terms of individual stars and relatively global appeal with the number of Europeans playing, plus Yao Ming.

    I never really "got" basketball or baseball until I had to work in the States for a few weeks. It was all that was on sports-wise so gradually took an interest. Got quite into it.

    And myp2p is the best site for all streamed sports I've come across...

    Heh, Golden State pissed it away in the last few games, should definitely have got in and would have given LA a better run than Denver did, for my money.

    I was impressed that Five managed to get one-and-a-half live playoff games in last week, though.

    Wow.... didn't know there were a few NBA fans on here.

    Been one of the best seasons for a long time. The race for the playoffs in the West was crazy!
    Lots of big trades as well.

    Must admit that, even though it's on at a ridiculous time, the channel 5 coverage has been a lot better than Sky's. Just a shame that they don't have all the games from the finals. Take last year, all over in four games so on 5 you’d only get one "live" game..... not that it'll be like that this year!

    Don't want to see Detroit in the finals though - booooooooooooring.

    Could you imagine Detroit/San An in the finals? ^_^ The scoring would look like... well, most of the Boston/Cleveland series. Western finals should be an awesome series, though, whoever plays the Lakers.

    I can! I happened not so long ago and prompted the NBA to change a few rules to help out the attacking team.

    No? Really? They should do that in the premier league.

    Please, god no. You'll be wanting bigger goals and half-time multi-ball next.

    I've only really been watching intently this season after not following the sport closely for about 12 years or so, so I don't really have a team yet. Just love watching the best players play, and for me the best trio as I said is in San An, even allowing for Tony Parker being French. ^^;

    I loved watching Mike Beasley play college ball this year, so I might support whichever team he goes to (within reason).

    They're still short a couple of rule changes, for me. Intentional off the ball fouls (ie. hack-a-shaq) should result in free throws and the attacking team keeping possession, for a start.
