It any good? Some of my mates have asked if I want to go with them at the end of June, but then I wouldn't be able to go to Rock Werchter with some of my other friends. I need to make a decision tonight, they are booking tomorrow. Its an awesome deal, a really posh 5 star hotel for a week for £50 (my mates mum knows someone or other). When factoring in flights, it comes to £275 quid for the week (excluding spending money of course). So for those who have been to Tenerife, tell me your stories of woe and do your best to big up why I should go. Ta |

Registered 16 years agoIf tenerife was my only option then of course I would go, but I am supposed to be going to Rock Werchter instead (which has an awesome lineup).
I need to make a decision, and I was hoping people would post some nice experiences in Tenerife (not just "oh i fucked this lass once" to big up your e-peen) I mean give me an idea of what its like.
I have never been there before and I know nothing of it. -

Registered 17 years agoI love Tenerife (went twice last year).
If you want sun, lots of alcohol and drunk english people in a location where everyone speaks english and everywhere sells english food, go to the south of the island/Playas las Americas.
If you want sun, lots of alcohol, nice scenary and to get away from the english go to the north.
Edit: My main reason for going was for relaxing/walking holidays. Once you're away from the south of the island (which is very dry/barren) the landscape is great. Lots of forests/mountains all surrounding the central volcano Teide (going up to there is a must). And then of course, all the major cities have a good night life / atmosphere. -

Registered 17 years agoMegapocalypse pretty much sums it up. If you want what will be a nice, sunny, drunk week abroad, go for it. I've been to Playas las Americas a couple of times, always with friends or girlfreinds. Always had a nice time.

Registered 15 years agoI stayed in Los Christianos, it was great, nice food, bars etc. And only a short taxi ride from Las Americas for drink/drugs/clubs whatever. -

Registered 17 years agoTenerife's nice. There's not really a lot anyone will be able to tell you to be honest. It's sunny, you can get drunk, go clubbing, plenty of tourists, beaches, you can escape it all if you want. Pretty much like any Spanish holiday resort. -

Registered 17 years agoI word of warning on the North side is actually it can get very cloudy and is often not that warm due to this. That can be a bit disappointing for sun woreshipers. I actually prefer the north side though as its more like a tropical climate where as the south is a dust bowl. -

Went there a few years ago with a big group of lads. Lots of people selling drugs on the strip, plenty of brothels and cheap booze. Classy place, I can't wait to go back! -
It’s either heaven or hell depending on how you feel about your average ‘Brits Abroad’ holiday location. I personally couldn’t stand it and thought it was a right shit hole.
That said these places usually have some nice untouched bits as well. Mallorca apparently has some lovely areas. Probably less true of the canaries though, they tend to be pretty barren outside the various holiday centres. -

You should trek some of those levadas, the nature is wonderful. Not sure around this time a year, but at least spring was beautiful.
Do not watch "Landing on Tenerife airfield" videos in beforehand, though.

Registered 18 years agoWhen I went to Tenerife, I was waiting at a zebra crossing (or equivalent of) and opposite was a rotund, topless, heavily sunburned fellow, also waiting to cross. He started to cross and a car pulled up to the junction. He must've thought the car was going to cross the line, so he shouted "Slow down you fucking caaaantttt!". All the while, he was holding hands with what must've been, no more than, an 8-year-old child. -
