| Finally unwrapped my copy on the weekend. Funny little game; No idea what's happening just yet but I did manage to get to the boss (whom I already dislike quite a bit). Plays really well with the classic pro controller though, glad I bought that. Don't think a proper stick will be necessary (even though I have one for SF IV) |

Had a go on this last night, gutted that Mark isn't Mark and that there are no cries of "G-Force"
The characters are taken from the official Gatchaman, not the 70's adaption to get it round US censors (where only robots died and alien planets all looked oddly like Earth). -

No, I mean why are you saying Ken is a blonde Ryu when he isn't? They have completely different play styles. -

I don't recall any difference between them in Street Fighter II, but I'll allow for something to have changed since then. -
Ken is American.
I mean... come on... the differences are glaring. -

Registered 15 years agoThat little joke doesn't really work in this context, Dan.
I just prefer Ken. He's always been a little bit more powerful than Ryu and he used to have a better Dragon Punch. Plus Ryu is just a fucking nerd. -

Don't worry, it will do when this page appears in Google's results in a few hours. -

Well it really depends on what version you played. Super SF II added some new moves including a more powerful fireball for Ryu (180 forward instead of the usual quarter-circle) and a flaming Dragon Punch for Ken (multi-hit iirc).
This has stayed the same ever since and you'll notice that Ken's regular attacks differ more and more as the series goes on. His hurricane kick (don't even ask me to spell the proper name) is multi-hit while Ryu's isn't, regular kicks/punches are completely different and of course, the supers are different.
In terms of multi-hit specials and so on, Ken is more similar to Akuma I reckon. -

Always wondered where this came from, Ryu has almost always been better than Ken in almost every iteration of SF ever. Exception being Third strike. -

Ryu's sure looks multi-hit to me in TvC...now that you mention it I do seem to recall a change between the two in Hyper Fighting or whatever, but it's been so many decades since I played that, that I've forgotten.
Ken is still no big loss though; I'd rather have Speed Racer in the game than that loser. -

Registered 15 years agoCan anyone give me a list of unlockable characters and how to unlock them? The internet is failing me as there seems to differences between different regions. So far I've only unlocked Frank West. -

Registered 13 years agoUnlocking is as easy as beating the game with every character, on the way you'll unlock more and more of them.
Frank West
Tekkaman Blade
Megaman Zero (simply called ZERO)
Joe the Condor
Yatterman-2
are the ones I can think of off-hand. -

The thing is, Ryu DOES have multi-hit specials in the Vs series purely because all the characters have crazy, souped-up versions of their attacks. Ken would probably play almost identical in Tatsunoko Vs Capcom but play a regular Street Fighter game and the differences are more noticeable. Ken is more offensive. -

Got this yesterday and...
I've already regretted it, there's barely anyone online and when you actually find someone (after 5-10 mins. minimum of searching) the match is going to be a slideshow lagfest since 99% of the people playing this are apparently from Asian countries
Really, really disappointed with the whole online aspect, sure, i wasn't expecting Xbox Live/PSN amounts of users on the Wii's Wi-fi thingie but frak me, this is ridiculous...
It's a shame since the game in general is ultra fun and looks very nice to boot but there's no way i'm going to be playing a VS fighting game by myself , this is not 2005 ffs...
Any of you gents play this game online at all ? -
As soon as I get my new tv I'll give you a fight.
Playing with a friend I thought the online play was fantastic.
Edit; confusing my tenses. -

So, shall i keep my copy
?
Going to keep trying with the online part although -i think it's fair to say- that what i encountered yesterday seems to be the norm for the game (online part that is)...
We'll give it a try first mate and i'll see if it'll change my mind, cheers.
