Got my SuperHub installed today. The engineer spotted my Apple Airport Extreme and with a wry smile asked if I wanted it in "Modem Only Mode" is said yes please. |

Registered 18 years agoGot my TIVO box installed on Tuesday; funny thing is my TV ends up in "Extension 2" overriding the HDMI when turning the TIVO box off/TV on. Also I unexpectedly received a new Super Hub; I'm now getting 105mbps opposed to 94mbps on my old modem/router set up. I need to check the TIVO settings; I don't watch TV but the wife is getting frustrated as she just mastered the V+ Box controls after 4 years of trying. -

Because he knew there was no way you could have done it by yourself..gif)
It's quite a big thing and it's got lots of lights. Any way I can disable that big red/blue one right on the front?
I don't mind the status lights, but my AV corner is starting to look like Blackpool Illuminations... :/

Registered 13 years agoPut electrical tape over them if you don't think you need to see them all the time?
We get our Superhub in a few weeks. Not sure what they are going to make of our existing set-up - will they let me just have the box and then take a 2 hour paid break? -

Yeah perhaps. Although the way the Coax goes into the back kinda limits how much you can "Tuck" it away.
Just hide it away somewhere, it's not doing anything useful where it has to be on display or anything.
I've got some Electrical tape. That'll do the job. -

Registered 11 years agoThe superhub really is gash. Switched to modem mode and plugged in a 20 quid router and hey presto massive improvements to signal range, strength and speed. Should rename it the fuckingshithub. -

There is actually some set up they have to do, they assign 2 hours but my chap was only here for around 30 minutes.
He did some jiggery pokery with his PDA thing, rebooted it, used my Mac to change some of the settings (Modem only Mode). It would have been even less if he didn't have to go and cut a length of Coaxial, the old modem was on a really short piece. -

Registered 13 years agoWe've got 2 wireless networks, in an ethernet over power system. I'm hoping the superhub engineer just sets it up in modem only and leaves well alone. -

When I had my superhub installed the guy just plugged it into the mains and attached the incoming cable feed to it and as I had asked him to not do any more as I wanted to switch it to modem only mode he then made a phone call to activate the hub and then left. There was no need for his visit they could have just posted me the superhub.
I was upgrading from their 20 mb service so I had my incoming cable feed wires upgraded about 2 years ago.
I just had a netbook ready and plugged that direct into the superhub and switched it to modem only mode. Then unplugged netbook and plugged in my existing router and all was fine. -

Duffman, we are all getting it eventually, I think. There is an update checker online somewhere that you plug your postcode into to find out when you are due. -

Got the Super Hub when I was reconnected / upgraded to 100mbit yesterday - one drop out early on, fiddled with a couple of settings, been solid since. Most annoying thing is the constantly flashing blue light, but I just turned it to the side. Service is fine for me, but the online account pages don't like me at the moment. -

Registered 15 years agoCheck out the sign up deals with quidco, sometimes you can get £100 cashback (currently it's £142 for next 4 days). I've found VM very good. The broadband is pretty solid and you get the advertised rate. I have a V+ box and it's very good, but the Tivo boxes are supposed to be very good. The on demand stuff is very good. -

Registered 16 years agoI have a TiVo box and it's good. I don't really actually use any of the TiVo specific stuff particularly though. The thing where it records stuff for you is more annoying than anything really -
@fletch7100 I'd say so, I'm on 100/10 internet through the Super Hub and it's solid so far - the engineer / installer guys are generally sound too. -

@Load_2.0 Yeah, what they call their new router/model combo - had many teething issues but it seems better now.
