No, you just need to help her dissociate it with "this is where I piss". She's not doing it to wind you up.

Enzyme based sprays, and have a litter tray in the bedroom. Hopefully she will piss in the tray and then you can move that just outside the bedroom, etc

@fontgeeksogood She already pees like normal in the litter tray, but perhaps a second one will help.

Are the enzyme sprays for cleaning or do they make certain locations smell bad for cats?

Cleaning. The cat will smell things you cannot

There's a school of thought that the correct number of litter trays is total no of cats + 1

    Well that could be interesting.
How times change, we got 3 kittens in December and weve not let them out yet, Covid General upheaval and fear of them being an even bigger target on the road outside our house has paid to that so far.
Anyway we have one decent sized tray for them, far from the 4 following that rule would offer.
We sift poo in between changing it fully every other day.

So literally my house smells of cat piss most likely. Worst culprit of all is the thin layer of dust which is just constantly over everything.

They can be right fussy fuckers around toileting. Bit like on here with the back to front wipers

Ours had been unable to climb into a high sided tray so we got a low sided one and she perched on the edge with her bum hanging over the edge and shat on the floor

Maybe Cat improved from that but wasnt quite the same afterwards. Arthritis continued playing up and last week she had a huge fall from the sofa its really fucked her up.

Shes on some strong pain management but after a year and a half of near misses I dont think shes coming back from this one. Age was already playing havoc with her toileting and now shes struggling to walk comfortably.

Back to the vet next week to see how its gone and me and Mrs Maybe both think it could be time.

    Elderly cats are such heartbreakers.

Im glad Im working from home though. Handfeeding and keeping her comfortable.

Feel terrible that shes declined so much over this year just as Baby Maybe has been fully embracing being a loud active toddler. Almost fifteen years of being Mrs Maybes number one and then spending (probably) her final year hiding and poorly as a monster rampages and chases her.

    :( When it's time, it's time.

My 2 continue to be stone cold killers. Have had to set up a separate bin for them, just chucking it in the wheelie bin wasn't working at all.

We also had to have words with my next door but one neighbours, who were catnapping one of them. I know cats go where they want but don't encourage them FFS. It became a particular problem a few weeks ago when he'd taken a gouge out of his leg and needed it cleaning and pain meds. We didn't see him for days. He was there and because he couldn't climb, couldn't get back home. Dippy fuckers just left him there in their conservatory. If you want a cat, get your own, there are plenty looking for a home.

@simpleexplodingmaybe Similar to my last cat, she spent a decade ruling the roost of the house and the whole neighbourhood, then we moved house twice and had a boisterous kid knocking around, she spent her final years cowering away under the bed and suchlike. A mixed blessing, she wasn't happy.

@freddymercurystwin her personality has completely changed, even before her bouts if illness. Either incredibly timid or when the coast has been clear incredibly needy.

Shes beside me behind some boxes at my desk in the back office on a pile of cushions and blankets that she wont leave now until Baby Maybe is in bed.

Shell be forever more at peace, I know its hard, weve all been there, and it hurts like hell. But it does get better and you never lose the memories.

We got 3 kittens after losing 2 last year, all detailed in this thread.
These little fuckers are driving us crazy though, well one especially. Firstly he trys to climb the curtains (hes nearly a year now) and recently hes taken to swiping at the pictures on our walls/trying to hang from them. Hes a little cunt, but hes so cute.
They are house cats as Im frankly too scared to let three of them out at once together (we lost a cat to the road last year and it shook me up) so I think we all going a little stir crazy in here, havent slept properly since we got them as he plays up during the night also.

Sorry to hear the loss in the maybe household. It's always such a horrible time, even when it is for the best.

Ours is also getting on and on thyroid meds now. Hopefully a few years left yet, but it'll break our boy when she goes.

His constant buddy since he was 2 and she always sleeps on his bed. I dread that day.
