Having just got back from a great week with my girlfriend relaxing at the Sherwood Forest 'version' of Center Parcs, i'm just wondering if any of you guys have been, or have been to the other locations and can say what it was like or whatever. Yeah it's super expensive and they suck all the money out of you that they can, but it is all rather lovely...

Used to go as a kid - not been to Sherwood, but been to the others. Love em - mainly for the swimming pool - rapids and death slides FTW!

I have been 3 times now (all Elveden), it's rained each time but I still have great memories.

I love it..Been to the sherwood one 3 times now,It's got a proper forest (Pinfold?) next door for some real off track cycling.
The spa is pretty cool also.
*my only downside is the 2 days a week when people arrive and depart, and the place fills up with cars

When did we start spelling it 'center'? Is that really what it's called?

It's the company's spelling of the name, it's them being a bit unique.

Blimey. I've seen these places advertised and never noticed that, but put it in a thread title on EG and sticks out like a sore thumb /o\

They're an american company though, right?

Been a few times and love 'em. Had a great week with my sister, brother-in-law and their kids. I've been without kids and probably had a better time with my nephew and niece in tow though I probably didn't need to be quite so competitive with the 10 pin bowling...

Never been but just looked on the site and was shocked by how expensive they are. You would be better to spend that going abroad than spending a rainy week in England.

Never been, would rather spend the coin going abroad I guess. Although friends who have been said its quite good.

Looking for a cheapie midweek break with the wife and little boy - which is the best Center Parcs? I've been to Sherwood and Elveden years ago, but we're in the south so probably one of Elveden, Woburn and Longleat would be best.

Only ever been to Longleat, but it's fantastic. Love the hills, the air, the almost total lack of signal. If you can, stay in Pine in the 350-400 number villas. Perfectly placed for the pool, lake/sports bar, and the adventure playgrounds.

Going to miss it this year, school holiday prices are too rich for me. :(

Thanks, booked Woburn in the end though. Yeah my boy starts school in September so this is our last chance for a cheapie!

I'm going there in April. Looking forward to it :)

    Make the most of it.

Getting forced into school holiday prices is a 'see you next tuesday'. Wish we'd taken more holidays in the nursery years!

Personally, I thought Butlins was better value for money. My expectations were lower, and were met.
Had a great time. It's like holidaying in a pub - a bit shit but that's what I expected.
I thought Center Parcs was a bit pricey for what it was. And was full of aspirational chavs.
    YMMV

Forest holidays are a better "retreat" break that Cp. We tried them after a few CP
breaks and we have never looked back. Accommodation is fantastic compared to CP.

I'm sure they're all fine, but I know what to expect from CP and I know my nearly four year old will love it. Plus, the subtropical swimming paradise!

Also the week after half term is dirt cheap :D

Can also recommend Sandy Balls (snigger) in the New Forest, lovely place. But you can't go wrong at any of them really, especially for the kids.

Will definitely save up for next year. What I like about it is that kids are not an inconvenience. Even some places that claim.they love kids, sometimes they're an afterthought. Not at CP.

It's mad, the holiday prices are 3X the price. With a 97% occupancy rate.

Love the peace and quiet. Loads of exercise and mentally relaxing imo. I get what Al is saying though, can get a bit like that.

I went to the Whinfell Forest one in the lake district last weekend. Think we got lucky because we had heavy snow on Saturday night. Stunning walks around the forest in the snow on Sunday.

We went on a James villa holiday to Cyprus. 6 berth villa with private swimming pool. It was cheaper than a week at center parts would have been.

Yeah thats the thing with these getaways...you can have exactly the same experience abroad with better weather for the same or cheaper price.
