If you don't want to make your own, tesco started doing Smoked Maple Burgers, actually really good (also smell amazing when cooking)
They are quite tasty - I like the vintage cheddar ones as well.

Cooked up a beast tonight, chuck steak and very little else for the (enormous) patty, some fine thick cut bacon layered with Jarlsberg cheese, topped with an egg and the obligatory American mustard & ketchup. Old school, patty rare in the middle sooooo juicy, well fatty :) Absolutely delicious. Was gonna try one of the recipes from the links on the previous page but maybe next time.

Byron next by the looks, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53222949 whilst they may not be that great, near me there's few burger restaurants to choose from, Byron being one of them, that said its completely pot luck if they serve a decent meal or not, sometimes great sometimes awful, same for the service so probably no surprise they're struggling.

@freddymercurystwin Obviously not good to see anywhere closing, but I've never had a particularly good experience there. Last time I had one of their burgers, I ended up with a pretty vile 48 hour dose of the squits. Plus they absolutely took the piss on sides - I remember seeing them bring out four tiny onion rings that had clearly come straight out of a freezer bag and into the microwave and charge 4 for it.

Have not been to Byron but the last 2 times was in 2017 at Cambridge and Bury one and the food was good. Sucks for the staff but the article says they are looking to sell off parts of the business, some one better may take over

Just in general, people who don't understand the difference between McD burger (or one from some shitty kebab van) to a one with quality meat are the idiots that saw "LmAo!!!111, 12 F0r a BuRgEr!!!1111" I use to work some fucking idiots that thought this

On the subject of onion rings, Honest Burger have nailed those. Best ones I've had in my life so far.

@smoothpete that's one of the other things that's annoyed me with Byron's over the years, sometimes their onion rings are excellent, you go the next time and they're rubbish or cold or whatever. Don't get me started on their kids menu, it's always been dire.

Still haven't tried Honest Burger. There's one in Brixton but it's tiny.

Speaking of burger gaffs in Brixton, oh god I hope Dip n Flip survives.

Doesn't Brixton have a Black Bear now? They are, for me, the all time fucking champions

I fucking LOVE onion rings. I bought an air fryer specifically to have them whenever I want.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any that close to that deep fry goodness.

My homemade ones were a disaster.

Good onion rings are truly a thing of joy. Sadly, 90% of onion rings seem to be in the range between "dire" and "disappointing".

I made some fantastic homemade onion rings back in the day when I had a chip pan. You just don't see a pan full of oil in peoples kitchens anymore.

There was a chippy near me did fantastic onion rings. A portion could feed a family of five as well.

Just made me and the missus a burger. Had a blue cheese melt on there, lettuce, onion, streaky bacon and a brioche seeded bun, but i tried some wagyu burgers from aldi.
I can't quite make my mind up whether I liked them or not. They were literally the softest meat I've ever eaten. It just melted on the tonge, but i mean the an extreme degree. I think I've eaten yogurts which had more bite to it. Not sure whether it was right for a burger...

Burgers sound good but it's a shame that they can't spell. Reading that page is making my eyes roll so much I feel like a bloody fruit machine.

@Ror afraid the dip and flip in Brixton closed months ago, only know this as I was planning a trip there back in February.

@wobbly_Bob I guess it's just a thing they like to do. This is their old place.

Easily up there with the best burgers I've ever had.

There's one in Wimbledon and one in Clapham Junction (They call it Battersea on their website):

Ah, nice one. Clapham Junction is easier to get to that Brixton.

Saying that, even Wimbledon is pretty easy with the tram.

Will have to pay a visit sometime.

Had a really nice novelty burger in Sweden yesterday.

Inspired by the October Fest with caramelized onion, bacon, sauerkraut, cheese and ... the piece de resistance Pretzel bun.

It was surprisingly fantastic. Went really well with beer (UNsurprisingly). I must have it again before they stop doing them.

Not the best burger I've ever had, but one of the more unexpected smash hits.
