    12-12-10-10-40 (max)

    Arms really wanted to give in at 39 but I struggled to 40 :)

    Nice one DUFF, I managed mid 30s and landed in a crumpled heap. I consoled myself with the thought that I've run 8.5 miles and played an hour of badminton this week too :-)

    Either age is catching up on me or I did myself some serious muscle damage on day 1 (Monday) but even today (thursday) I can't actually do day 2's press ups. I mean I physically can't do them, the muscles under my arm pits and down my sides across my rips just absolutely kill.

    I'll try again tomorrow but this is fucking depressing.

    Did some of you absolutely kill yourselves on the initial test and are now paying the price? Drop down a slot or convert to knee push ups if you can't manage the ones it says, otherwise you'll just give up, right?

    I thought you had to do 10 minimum for the 5th set Ginger?

    that's the plan, but it didn't really feel appropriate while lying prone on the floor with my arms burning...

    Woo!

    Week 1 Day 3 has arrived!

    I usually do these in the evening, os I'll let you konw how I get on. :)

    On day 2 I managed 7-7-5 then I had to rest for 30mins and did 4-6

    I like that the programs allows you rest during each set. It's says 1 minute but to take more if you need it. Generally I need about 3mins between sets.

    Oops. Last night I wanted to take a 10 minutes rest before trying the last max series.
    About 3 hours later I remembered and couldn't be bothered.

    Doh!

    Is it considered cheating to use push-up bars? My wrists have the girth and robustness of twigs ;_;

    Knee pushups are just asking for someone to use you for sexy fun. That's what I tell my missus anyway. :D

    I reckon that's fine - if you're feeling strain on your wrists when doing these, then I'd go for it.

    You can do the press-ups on your knuckles, altho' some people find this uncomfortable.

    Just remembered another good workout plan.

    Get a deck of cards and pick 4 exercises.

    hearts = lunges
    clubs = pushups
    diamonds = squats
    spades = situps

    shuffle the pack and just work through, doing whatever number comes up for each excercise. If you are reasonably fit, count picture cards as 10 reps. if you are unfit, count them as a rest. Aces are high.

    This is the best exercise requiem ever! Once I've done a card I tend to put it to the side so I end up doing a whole pack of exercises everyday and I leave the jokers in and count them as a wank or something :D

    Just found this. Think I'll start this tomorrow, or even tonight after i get back from a gig. Never really done masses of pressups as I get bored, but having a plan should help. I'm more worried about pull ups though. Used to just be able to keep doing those for ever, stopped for a while and now I can do about 10. Oh well, let you know how it goes.

    Can't see as how they could be considered cheating - in fact it'll probably be harder work using them as you'll be able to lower yourself further to the ground.

    Bastard.

    Just did the 3rd Day, but missed the Rank 5 one by 1 push up :/ I just couldn't do it and collapsed in a heap after push up 14...

    I managed the minimum for Level 3 on the initial test and so far I've been just managing the quotas.
  • Deleted user 18 July 2008 23:27:31
    Ok just started and done the initial test. Got 22, which isn't bad when you consider how fat I am! Do I start the program tomorrow or today?
