Registered 16 years agohmmm, tried this years ago but got bored. Also beware that somewhere win Week 3 (I think) there's a huge difficulty spike. This is assuming it's exactly the same program as back then.
Regardless, good luck mate.
Of course you know it means nothing without before/after pics ;-P -

Registered 15 years agoActually I was thinking about this the other day... and just thinking about it caused me to break out in a sweat.
Yep, week three was a bastard - I think I repeated it four or five times. Will be having another crack at this as soon as my running routine balances out again. -

Registered 14 years agoWhy the hell not? Hmm, seems a bit cheaty to skip forward three weeks, but I'm guessing you'll be doing the same? -
I might join in. I'll have to see. I did the same thing last year and got to 76 in one go before RSI in my wrist became unbearable and I had to quit.
Way I used to (when young and fit) train was to do as many pressups as I could each night in a minute. I started at some pathetic level like 10 or something, but within 6 months I could do 110. Its cheating a bit doign them that fast as the lactic acid doesnt have as much time to build up and hurt. I was also single at the time so could manage to do this every night before bed. -

Registered 14 years agoI tried this about two years ago as well, got to around the 75 - 80 mark and stopped.
Been having a Sciatica issue for about a year though and focusing more on stretching and running than this sort of thing.
Wouldn't mind giving it another bash though. -

Registered 17 years agoI got up to the 70 mark then lost my workout space in the house, been meaning to give this another crack. The cycling is helping with the legs but my upperbody looks rather poor considering the build I have.
If you only did pushups like this how would you expect your body to change if at all? -

In the 6 months I did them, my arms and chest (obviously) got more developed, but so did my back and stomach muscles. I was surprised about the stomach tbh... but then I didnt (and dont still) know a lot about exerciing properly.

Registered 14 years agoI'm not planning on only doing pushups, will stick to my usual strict routine of the occasional trip to the gym when I can be arsed. And hopefully running again too if the doc gives my leg the all clear next week. -

Think about it, your hands are on the ground supporting the your top half, feet on the ground supporting bottom half. The middle part (your core/abs) needs to work to keep you in a rigid plank position.

Registered 14 years agoManaged 35 on the initial test too, was a struggle though. Not sure whether to skip ahead to week 3 as it recommends or just ease myself in at the start. -

Registered 15 years ago\o/ week 2 would be a good compromise. I'm jumping straight into week 3 and see how I get on. You just repeat the same week until you complete it.
I've registered at pushuplogger as well to log my progress. -

Registered 15 years agoYeah, there's a massive difficulty spike in this - I've tried (and failed) a couple of times to get past it. There are Apple and Android apps to keep tabs.
More recently I've bought a pull up bar and found it much more satisfying than push ups (and hard to cheat on). Up to 23 at the moment in one go, but will never get to 100!

Registered 14 years agoi bought a kinect ( bloody impulse buy) so the mrs made me get your shaoe fiteness 2012, so im going to be hammering on that. i used to be realtivly fit but mixture of not having any time to work out and sciatica means ive gotten rather flabby and unfit. I think id have to work on the pushups part, my lower body is solid but my upper body compared to my size is lacking. -

Registered 14 years agoW3/D1 done, kinda... Arms went at 19 for the last max set and collapsed. Struggled to a couple more after, but not sure whether I should count that or not?
Might just repeat the week, depending on how Wednesday attempt goes. Form probably went out the window on the last set too and there's no point cheating myself. -

Registered 14 years agoOh and that was doing sets from column 3 on the chart. -
Just ground out a quality W1/D1 session, trying to get all my recovery shake down now. My wife's not convinced by my request for a deep tissue massage sadly, hope that won't affect day 2.
