Black for work or going out, white for sports, don't take any notice for lounging/nipping down the shops etc.

People who wear white socks when wearing smart clothes should be shot. And not just because there's a chance they're Jacko.

Wow. I could write a psychology PhD right now. My working title could be "The correlation between penis length x girth and the amount of TV dinners bought by the average 20-60 male in Surrey."

    What a hack.

I wear white socks with shorts, for sports and for non-formal activities such as rape. For more formal rapes I usually wear black socks, unless I feel 'craazy' in which case I may opt for grey socks (gasp!).

I don't even wear matching socks most of the time. It's not like anyone notices unless you're wearing shorts (which I never do). I put on the first two I happen upon out of a giant pile in the airing cupboard.

Black, green, dark green, light green, pink, peach, red, maroon, brown, grey, blue, yellow and various shades in between. Makes it easier to match them up when they come out of the wash. I don't really give a shit what people I meet think about the colour of my socks.

    White for sports. Simple.

Maybe a stupid question, but why exactly do people wear white socks for sports?
  • Deleted user 14 July 2008 05:13:29
I prefer socks that don't smell.

I have a ridiculous collection of socks in all kinds of bizarre colours and patterns. So, uhh, whatever I happen to pick out of the drawer.

I also call bullshit on the theory. I hate being the centre of attention tbh.

To be fair, this isn't the only work she has to do for her PhD. It's just one minor assigment.

I usually wear white socks when I'm not at work, think that's ok with jeans and trainers?

    Dark socks at work though.

Black socks, day in day out.

Today's are a little fruitier than usual because they have candy striped toes and heels.

Bog standard black so I dont have to bother pairing them.

Im like Frank Sinatra. I love the feel of new socks, so my sock draw is so stuffed with them, there isnt any room for porn or dildos.

I actually worked out that, thanks to child labour, I could wear a new pair of socks every day for about 100 quid a year.

Remember the 80s? Well people wore fluorescent socks without a second thought in that decade. White socks are just a step down from that.

I have got a single pair of white trainer socks for the one day a year its warm enough to get my pathetically pasty legs out and wear a pair of shorts.

Um, I have some black ones from M&S with different colours on the heels and toes ;o)

They're just for work. I wear white trainer socks otherwise.

    So you think. :)

Anyway I wear socks to match what else I'm wearing, which I thought would be the normal thing to do.
