^^^ Is there a "best New Page post" in the forum awards? Because that one gets my vote.

I think the flying ant day reported a few weeks ago was a false dawn, or they decided to have two this year. Was walking to the cinema yesterday with the missus and there were hundreds of the bastards flying into my head and other places, along with loads crawling on the floor. Needless to say I kept my mouth closed, I didn't want them mistaking it for the wrong hole.

It is most definitely Flying Ant Day today here in Bristol. I walked a mile down the road and there was such a huge swarm of the fuckers it felt like I'd accidentally walked into the set of a low budget horror film. A couple of women were even screaming about it as we walked past them, they've probably been devoured by now as I write this.

South West London ahoy. Although weirdly none of the ones I saw seemed to be actually flying.

I'm somewhat disappointed. I've been slowly clearing a garden throughout the year and come across numerous ant colonies, but they've done nothing beyond getting agitated at me watering a potted Christmas tree that they're been nesting beneath.

    What the hell?!

My back yard was absolutely swarming with ants and flying giant ants. I thought maybe something had died so I've had to call someone out to have a look at it all tomorrow.

Jeez, I hope this comes to pass.

Ants have yet to evolve to this next stage here in Suffolk.

Much like the indigenous human population .

I saw a few flickering their wings outside of my house last night and there is a full contingent of spiders at the ready, so i imagine it is soon.

    What?
He called the police to investigate the large volume ants in his backyard. What's unclear about this completely rational response?

What? No, I had called a pest control guy to come round (but called it off as the ants are no more). The suspicion that something died, I thought maybe a rodent had somewhere in my property.

It's all very rational, it is. I am.

Ants were seen carrying lumps of dead rodent, carved from the rotting corpse and held high in their mandibles to be taken back to the nest for their queen to eat

Nice of the pest control guy to reassure you that ants are in fact herbivores though, so no need to pay for their call out charge

Maybe pacrifice was worried the ants had discovered the hooker he buried under his patio.

I want whatever job it is that pays out whenever someone rings you because of an ant.

I don't think they are FWIW. They farm aphids and suck off their juice, and apparently eat other insect's eggs and stuff. I don't think they tend to go after larger mammals though.

I think they're not herbivores, but they could be ovo- and lacto-vegetarians, if you consider sucking off an aphid a bit like drinking cow's milk.

A medium sized herd of ants can strip a prostitutes body of all its flesh in two days.
