There's a modest ant colony within the walls of my bathroom, behind the ceramic tiles. The royal eggs have hatched and the queens have been flying out to establish their own colonies in the great beyond. A few dozen never made it past the shower, though. Many of them get disoriented and end up trapped in the condensation, presumably drowning or starving to death. Kinda grim, so I help them along when I can. By putting them outside.

Millions of years from now, when all evidence of human civilisation has been erased, their descendants will name their third Jovian spaceport in my honour

Q: What did Pink Panther say when he stepped on an ant?

A: I hate flying ant day.

I'll find out when I get home - loads decided to come through the block paving over the last few days so it's only a matter of time.

    Same here yesterday.
We were at the Belgian seaside with the kids and their grandparents yesterday.
We did a round of mini golf in the evening. Lots and lots of ants around.

Nothing that shows up on the weather radar though. (I think).

6 separate nests inside the house in the last 8 days, never had them previously. Horrific powder-fueled genocide has been going on since.
