Yep. Several, in fact. We had flying ants here today in one half of town. Was a bit weird, like there was some invisible do-not-cross line keeping them out of the other half. Some decidely tipsy seagulls on the infested half.

Your ants are late! We had masses about 2 weeks ago. Although I did see a handful laggards crawling around this past weekend as well.

Just mowed the lawn at the front of the house and so many ants emerged in one of the corners it looked like like that patch of land was trying to warp into another dimension. I've never seen anything like it in my life. I think I fucked the flying ant stage for them though as the ones with wings were stumbling all over the place like they were pissed up and didn't seem able to take flight.

First time I've ever seen a queen in real life too. Well, at least I assume it was the queen on account of it looking like 2 fuck off basketballs glued together that probably could have taken me in a fair one on one. Alas I used my cunning and drove it's skull into the pavement like the big man I am.

Is anyone else suffering from a plague of houseflies this year or have I just not found the body yet?

We got a couple of fake wasps nests off Amazon for about a tenner and despite writing them off as folly as soon as I clicked buy, they have seemingly worked a treat this year. We live pretty much next door to where the countryside begins so I'm constantly fighting with all manner of bugs around the house and 2 people petrified of them inside it.

I have no idea if having next to no flies in the house so far this year has been mere coincidence, but I need the win so I'm just going to take credit for being a genius.

Similarly I bought a carrier bag full of spiders from the guy down the street and emptied them into my house. Haven't seen a fly all year.

Fuck I'm glad it's not just us... a shit load more flies this year than I can ever remember. I actually got fly killer spray stationed in every room downstairs now, the fuckers just won't fly out of any fucking window I open for them. It's nuts.

I declared a jihad on them this weekend and had a flypocalypse. Every time I think I’ve got rid of them I come down in the morning to find more of the fucking things.

Had a plague of flies a couple of weeks back.

We get the worst here in Autumn. One of our window frames was used as a nesting site for cluster flies one year (we didn't notice until it was almost spring) and the little fuckers scent-mark it and try to return every year. So every Autumn, just after the weather turns, I have one truly grotesque day where I have to open up a window whose frame is teeming with flies and Raid the little fuckers to death (fortunately, they've got absolutely no resistance to it and drop like... well... flies).

This year, I've tried really deep-cleaning the window frame to see if we can get rid of the scent marking, so let's see if that keeps them away. Unfortunately, I suspect they might just like that window anyway, as it gets the afternoon sun full-on.

I have bought nippon fluid for next year already.

This is a fluid that they like because it is sweet. They carry it back to the nest and feed it to all the other ants. Then they die because it is a long timescale acting poison. Take that you ant bastards.

I also killed about 50 queens as they emerged from the nest. But my guess is that that will not reduce the number of ants in my garden, as apparently the queens live for up to 30 years which is mental for a tiny insect.

Go into godzilla mode and make sure you get the queens (large flying ones). The small flying ones (males) are less important.

Yeah 2 weeks ago it was our patio, now it's the ants in our lawn coming out today, fucking everywhere. Started playing footy with the boy earlier without realising, stood right in the middle of a next, fuckers started swarming up my leg!

    No flying ants seen yet.

This year really has been my personal war on ants after the deluge last year. I used a combination of Nippon fluid, biblical flood and agitation (wind them up with a patio weeder and when they come out kill the bastards).

So far I am yet to see flying ants and ant numbers have decreased dramatically.
