Apple wine used to be one of the best things against the heat. Sadly, there's no apple wine anymore in the supermarkets. Presumably because the heat literally boiled apples so there's nothing left to make apple wine from.

When dipped in tainted water, it purifies it without losing form, consistency or being affected.

Armoured_Bear has gained a full head of hair, a much better mood and was cured of the braintumor he didn't know he had ever since sleeping upon it. Judging by his tolerance for a rainstorm, it has cured him of his insanity and the desire he had to watch the world and all living things around him burn to a crisp by solar heat death as well.

It really is a wonderful material.

There are of course side effects - liking James chief among them - and to answer a question prior: It is not waterproof.

Those who sleep on normal pillows
    Sit down next to me
    Those who own Ikea mattresses
    Sit down next to me
Those who don't love 40 degree temperatures
    Sit down next to me

The marketing claims that Technogel pillows are 144% more effective at muffling screams and easily wipe clean, futhermore they retain these properties at the high temperatures the back of a van may reach during a hot Summer.

Love it when local rags chisel out continuous coverage of the heatwave with ridiculous results

    https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/leeds-set-for-very-warm-day-according-to-experts-1-9286253

There was a headline a couple of weeks ago that read "Leeds set to be hotter than Paris this weekend"

Like to think it's stealth satire.

Just landed in Ibiza. Made the mistake of walking half an hour. Can't breathe.

A glorious day over here, supposed to top at just 24 degrees. I actually closed the window when taking the shower today, the air coming in was downright chilly.

36 degrees ffs. I'm increasingly wondering if human sacrifice to the Sun god might be worth a try.

Thankfully they ended work day at 1am today because of the heat. Disposing of the corpses would probably have been too costly.

edit: 1pm of course, not 1am

Sky has gone very dark here. Not raining yet, but looks like it's just a matter of (not very much) time. Forecast now shows a 50%+ chance of thunderstorms this evening.

Forecast also shows this looks like the end of the heatwave, thank god. Back to more normal temperatures (daytime peaks in the 21-25 range) from tomorrow.

The rain has already stopped. Which is good I suppose as I'm off drinking by the river shortly.

Which river? I'm supposed to be drinking by the Thames later (near Vauxhall Bridge), but suspect we're going to end up relocating to an indoor venue looking at the forecast.
