    @Rum_Monkey I never thought of that :)

As for the fly screens, my cats are over 8kg...I'd need bars on the windows to stop them.

I think you're all being a bit dramatic getting AC. When we have about 10ish days of really hot weather a year. Also with AC if you have the temp too low at night you're at risk of a lovely summer cold/bad throat. I made that mistake abroad when it was baking outside.
That's a given, it's a short period in the year the issue is things like not being able to sleep properly. After about 10 days without proper sleep you'll be more than slightly wacko and subject to phenomena such as hallucinations due to your brain trying to dream whilst you're still awake.
Working from home is a blessing though. Can roll up to work half asleep. Do a below average day of work. Sleep at lunch. Come on guys! Trying to save you thousands here.

Sadly that doesn't work so well when you're self employed. :(

It's turbo hot here but thank God it's a minimal amount of humidity so you just burn from the sun in the day but you can actually sleep at night.

I hate flies in my house so much I first bought an electric fly swatting tennis racquet. Have now added a kebab restaurant style blue light zapper to provide a constant source of elimination.

The poor man's Air-con is always an option.

Fill the bath up with cold water and just sleep there, the odds are in your favour, you probably won't drown. If you wake up needing a wee, it's extra convenient to just relax and go with the flow...

Though it might make the local papers if you're found dead in a bath filled with diluted wee.

A cold microfiber cloth is good for cooling off.

Sans hair it can go on your melon, if you're more hirsute just drape it round your neck.

Better than being suffocated by a fan or catching legionnaires disease. Both of which kill millions each year.

The six weeks or so of extreme heat is really the only time that i don't resent that i live on a boat. It's moored by the coast, so it's always a few degrees cooler than the town centre where i used to keep it.

I'm basically just sitting on the deck, drinking Madagascan cola and coffee rum, trying to write my next Vampire The Requiem campaign.

Not a bad way to spend the day... though the temptation is always there to just start sailing north.

Just need to find a way to keep my balls cool. They're veet'd so it's not a hair issue.

Skirts should be for men, that will sort the airflow issue.

Moonracer is not a Roger Moore reference, it's the name of a female Autobot.

I happen to like the name, so my second boat was also named Moonracer. Not Moonracer 2 as some of my friends like to call it, just Moonracer. It helps me forget that everything i owned and cared about sank to the darkest depths of the Chelmsford waterway systems.

Is it like the smurfs where 99% of autobots are male so moonraker and arsey do a lot of heavy lifting?

There are more lady Transformers than you might think these days.

Even Moonracer herself, along with Elita-1 (Optimus' old girlfriend) and the rest of their team made a few brief appearances in the G1 cartoon.

I might have considered Arcee, but i never liked the way that she seemed to ditch Hot Rod the moment he was burdened with the Matrix of Leadership, and started hanging around with Springer instead.

He might be a triple-changer, but is that really so impressive to a woman? Rodimus destroyed Unicron for gods sake.

I have that Dyson fan mentioned a page or so ago, and its smaller cool only brother. Both worth it here, especially during wildfire season where they do an excellent job of filtering the air.
