Registered 16 years agoI finally got a great night of sleep due to the old reliable standby; Alcohol. The soporipic effect comes on without warning somewhere between a quarter and a third of a bottle of vodka.
The only downside, my right arm is covered in mosquito bites from when I was sleeping and vulnerable. I hope they died of alcohol poisoning. -

Registered 2 years agoIt's 28 inside the house now with no aircon and the windows open and that's a bit muggy. I just stay outside in the garden all day. -

That would be nice. Iike theidea of these heat exchanges instead of gasboilers, but not sure it'd cope in a draughty 1970's house up north.

Need to buy a newer, well-insulated home before trying that! Not one built by psychotext's builders either! -

Registered 16 years agoTiny shaded windows seems to be the drawback. There was an interesting building featured in the FT the other week, which had taken concepts from a Roman villa, and had this lovely interior courtyard. I like some of the ideas used in the middle east and India, where interior water is used to cool the building…

Nice breeze outside though. Very glad the sea fret came in when I did my run this morning. -

Registered 5 years agoI usually keep it around 23/4, but home AC can only do so much. There's a misconception that it's perfect climate control, which is only really true of big commercial sized units. In temp extremes it really only manages about a 6-10 degree reduction, so for the most part it's been in the high 20s indoors here, but it's tolerable as long as it doesn't creep into the 30s. -

Registered 16 years agoThe weather app on my iphone is predicting thunder storms here between 7-8pm.
Which likely means clear skies and the temp going up a few degrees. -
