I never understood Nadal's 500k watch thing. He wanted the lightest watch in the world, specifically made for him, because he didn't want to be troubled by it during play.

Then why play with a watch on at all? Does he really need to be able to tell the time while in a match?
    Is odd.
Not seen him look at it and they even mentioned he's left it in the locker room before without even noticing.
It's a bloody ugly thing and all.

@senso-ji He seems quite obsessive compulsive with all the face touching and arranging of bottles, maybe having a watch is part of that?
That's just who he is, he's not doing the OCD stuff to piss people off or anything.

I'm glad that it didn't devolve into a punch up. I wish Nadal had won in straight sets, but at least he won. I would have raged otherwise.

Loved the press conference afterwards: "What do you want from me, man? What do you want from me?"

I just wanted sometime to say "Well, we want you to not be a cunt"

Watching bits of the Tomic press conference here, and seems to me like he's clearly not well. He almost looked like he was going to break down towards the end.

If he's having an existential crisis, all the better to stop playing tennis and figure out what he really wants to do with his life.

Should be help on hand if that's the case. Tennis must be one of the toughest sports mentally - don't know what the support is like for players but you'd hope he'd have people he can turn to.

Much easier said than done tbh. But yeah, you'd think the right support would be available for pro level players.

At the very least it's clear that he doesn't want to play tennis. Maybe he was forced into it: from all accounts his dad is a giant flapping cunt. But he has money, he has his youth, and at the very least he needs an attitude adjustment. This is a bit beyond your normal early-to-mid-20s cuntery.

    @285

I have nothing against a 15 year old winning at Wimbledon, it's inspiring.
I'd also agree that the World isn't flat.

But...the moon 'original' landings, when the yanks were desperate to spout propaganda that they'd 'beaten' the Russians? Come off it. That's where you lost me. They've been there since but not then. Waken up.

I don't get the Kyrgios is a cunt thing. I don't watch or like tennis, even WIMBLY but I've watched the press conferences where he's supposedly a douche and he just seems like he's a driven sportsman who is disappointed and upset in losing

He said recently if he applied himself a bit more and took the game seriously he'd be up there with the greats. How about go do that then instead of acting like a child?

In general though, the underarm serving, whinging at the umpire/press, etc which some people describe as 'character', I just see as being a cunt.

Itís absolutely legal just goes against etiquette. You know how some of these plummy sorts get very upset about people coming over here and not doing things properly type things. Britain once ruled the waves you know.

There's plenty of things that are legal in the sport, which are still frowned upon.

I don't really care about underarm serves, but aiming shots at your opponent's body is a pretty cunty thing to do. Then there's the umpire abuse, the tanking, the insults towards other players (and the crowd), etc etc.

Oh, and there was also that time he walked out in the middle of a match because he wanted to go home.

Maybe it's an Oz thing. Quinten Hann is known for twatting the break in snooker.

    Love it.

It's not though. Pat Rafter was a great champion, and Hewitt (though he started out as a bit of a shit) turned good too.

And now we've got Barty, the #1 female player, and she does not appear to be a shit. And she's even younger than Bernie and Kyrgios.

If you need someone acting like a spoiled child in order to enjoy a sport, maybe you should watch pro wrestling instead?

I've already said I don't enjoy the sport. I just think tennis has a massive problem (like golf, which I do enjoy). And Kyrgios isn't it
