Yeah I don't really mind who wins but part of me is rooting for Djokovic just because of the crowd.
Djok is basically tennis version of Lance Armstrong. To say there is a question mark over him is an understatement. That is basically why he isnít popular.
Back to the initial point remains that RF fans are some of the most sycophantic fans of any sport going.

*Sitting here head-to-toe in RF Branding, COME ON FED!
The whole point of being a fan is wanting someone to win? I'm not sure what your issue is.

    :(

Incredible game, but not a fan of the revised tie break rules. But whatever.

Federer on the wrong side of another epic final. A shame, but a great match.

Federer seemed pretty distraught in that interview, understandably.

Was in Fed's hands but he choked on match points, which is weird to see.

Boo. Had spotted Murray vs Gasquet was going to be on Prime Video, and was just looking to see what time it started, only to see that it's already over, and he lost

Aus Open now. The usual suspects are getting through. Kyrgios is playing now and doing his best to piss a winning position away.

    So yeah, the usual.

I've never really understood the nationalism thing when it comes to open tennis. Like, I guess it's nice when someone who happens to be an Australian citizen wins, but they're not playing for their country. It's not a team thing.

Anyway, Nadal v Kyrgios soon. That'll be a laugh and a half.

I suppose itís just easier playing in front of your own crowd? I canít see how they could favour local players much, itís not football. I guess they could be rigging the draw to put their players against weaker opponents in the earlier rounds.

In any case, itís obvious the interest will be higher if their players are in the game longer.

The Federer/Millman match was glorious. Fed really didnít deserve to win either.

I meant it more in the sense of supporters, rather than the players.

Anyway, no, Federer didn't deserve to win. But it's experience, really - Millman was doing really well, but bottled it under pressure because of home crowd + the possibility of beating (arguably) the greatest person to have ever played the game.

Yeah, Federer is clearly the best player ever. And it's no surprise Millman didn't stand the pressure, it must have been immense. I was really surprised by the super-tiebreak or whatever it's called they were playing, I was quite sure he'd won after getting the 7th point.

It would probably be even more something if Kyrgios wasn't on probation/suspended sentence for being a dick last year. So he still gets to yell at his team and sulk, but probably won't go full meltdown.

Speaking more objectively though, it's a decent match.

I think someone will eventually have to break the Nadal/Federer/Djokovic stranglehold. My money was on Medvedev, but I guess he'll have to wait (his match with Wawrinka was great btw).

Kyrgios is talented enough to do it, if he didn't have the attitude problems. Like, our expectations for him are so low right now that we call him well-behaved if he manages to not throw a tantrum.

Iím sort of rooting for Kyrgios if only it would be nice if someone else won for a change. Heís almost holding his own, but is a little bit not precise enough to make real problems for Nadal. I also welcome his new restrained self. I get rude people on the court almost every time I play myself and I just wish people would behave.

Though Nadal seems a bit miffed right now himself. Lots of errors I wouldnít have expected from him at all.

I actually meant something as in Kyrgios is really putting in his all against a rather more skilled opponent. Iím not a fan of the theatrics but dedication and skill I admire.

Yeah, it's nice to see him actually trying. His tendency to throw matches once they start getting a little hard was one of the most annoying things about him.

And Federer keeps going. Dude saved seven - seven! - match points in the 4th set.

It really is a bit unfair how much experience is counting in these matches. He's clearly not nearly as good as he used to be, but he can handle the pressure like nobody else and manages to pull through. Maybe it's partly that he doesn't really have anything else to prove, so he doesn't have to worry?
