i flicked onto the film muppet treasure island today and this guy was the main character!
He must have been about 12 at the time

i do find this genuinely really funny at times, but the problem i have with it is they often feel its necessary to explicitly point out what it is they're taking the piss out of. like, say, having a voiceover at the start of a sketch saying "the UK version of (american thing)" or "(humorous modification) of (popular film)" in that crap faux-american film trailer guy voice when it'd be blatantly obvious to anyone that that's what they're doing if they just went straight into it, and maybe announced the title at the end if it was particularly amusing and not just a restatement of what the sketch was. the whole channel-surfing format would allow them to jump in and out like that quite easily. but the way they do it now just comes off as really awkward and it gets right on my tits.
