That story has ironically put me right off my bit of grub, fucking hell.

I think it was mentioned already, but how much benefits must she be getting if she's able to maintain that sort of calorie intake? She must be putting away 4,000 to 6,000 a day, which would cost a bomb.

watching some fat man documentary on telly the other week, it was only when the guy's benefits and helper were taken away from him that he started losing weight. The paid-for helper was feeding him too much*, and making matters worse.

*anything more than water

Aye. It's tragic more than funny or annoying because of benefits etc. She stood no chance as a child (agree it's tantamount to child abuse) and is now totally fucking ruined.

Because her problems run significantly deeper than just taking away cash so she starves the weight off or whatever. Councils and the NHS have a duty to care for her that they can't just ignore or leave her in a house she can't leave etc. Of course, she needs to help herself but it's not as simple as reducing her cash and letting her get on with it.

What's funny (or not) is why huge amounts of taxpayers money is being used to exacerbate her problem rather than cure it.

Not sure of specifics on this case, but certainly NHS dietary advice is finally getting better. Not recommending a carbohydrate-weighted diet for diabetics, for example...
