Wow, menu looks awesome! My mouth is watering already! Thanks for the info, AD! ;D

You're welcome. Service was awesome. Place was incredible. Couldnt fault it. My girlfriend also adored it...and bought me the signed cookbook so I can create it all for her again... :s

I was there Tuesday. You can book it via Toptable.com for the offer (free starter and cocktail and choice as to whether you want to take them up on their set meal offer)

Rules was established by Thomas Rule in 1798 making it the oldest restaurant in London. Now we have online restaurant reservation systems

Evening all,I'm down in London for a couple of nights in a few weeks(going to watch Swan Lake at the Royal Alberts Hall) and I'm looking for a couple of places to eat for me and the Mrs.I'm staying on Cromwell Rd Kensington and would ideally like somewhere close but we are not to bothered about travelling.Budget wise I'm looking at spending nothing more than £120-£130 for 3 courses and and a bottle of wine,I have no idea where to start looking so PLEASE help.

The Mrs and I have become addicted to Byron Burgers recently... so good and their Oreo milkshake is perfection in liquid form.

2 year anniversary next week, anyone been here before?

    http://www.inamo-restaurant.com/

Apparently they have some kind of gimmicky e-table that's interactive and you can order food off it. Sounds cool, but if the food is shit then it's just a cool gimiick. Anyone been tghere?

If we are doing burger restaurant milkshake recommendations, I'm quite partial to GBK's Lime milkshake. Quite different from a full on Oreo type ones, but really awesome.

If it's milkshake you're after check out the ice cream parlour in fortnum and mason on Piccadilly, they do the best milkshakes I've ever had in any country.

For burgers, GBK is common chav shite, get your arse down to Byrons for the best burgers in town. They also do a mean milkshake.

I actually prefer GBK burgers to Byron, although Byron's fries are considerably better than GBK's chips (not that GBK's chips are bad and not that I've tried Byron's chips).

Fair enough, you can't beat GBK for variety I suppose. I don't like their beef burgers but I do like their Chorizo and sweet potato burger.

My favourite place in the smoke is

    http://www.theledbury.com/

Awesome food, two stars and the proper restaurant experience. Never fails and if you're taking a lady you are basically guaranteed gash at the end of the night (as long as you don't fuck up like my wife did and order the Bordeaux no.7 without realising it's a page number!)

Best London steakhouse? Gaucho's? Goodman? Hawksmoor? Currently looking for a place for my 40th and thought about poncy, but fuck that. Give me steak!

Goodman. Been to them all, been to Goodman 6-7 times, amazing. Bit of a debate between Goodman and Hawksmoor from some, you can't really go wrong, but Goodmans restaurant is less city (if you go to the one off regent street) so I prefer it.

And they're not poncy actually. But they are pretty expensive. Took my dad to Goodmans for his birthday, cost about £130-150 for two. My steak alone, without anything else, is normally about £40 though you can get a lot cheaper. Go to Goodmans and get the 750g T-Bone....you won't forget it for a long time!

Awesome, cheers. That was the one I was leaning towards. Pricey, but that's OK. By poncy, I meant restaurants like La Gavroche etc, but they're not really my cup of tea

Yeah nothing like La Gavroche or Royal hospital road. That's why it's one of my favourite restaurant in London (along with Roka and Hakkasan). I can go, have a normal meal with mates, make some noise and have a laugh and eat quality food.

@Dougs Big thumbs up for Gaucho here. I've been with the Mrs and also as a big group for my sisters birthday and it didn't dissapoint either time. Can be a bit noisy at times though so its party rather than intimate.
