Widge wrote:This is so wrong. I agree most iOS games control awfully, but Carmageddon is really great.
Carmageddon, like most on screen button games, is terrible. The core game underneath may be fantastic but it plays like complete turd.
Simpsons game is good, like Pocket Planes, it purely is a restocking game, but it keeps you hooked unusually.
@flying_pig - have you succumbed to origin by it?
Whilst it is very obviously inspired by Doodle Jump, I am having a great time with Sonic Jump ... much more enjoyable than the 'episodes' games that still fails to recapture the spirit of the 16-bit days.
For those who enjoyed the (touch grind) BMX game, the newly released True Skate is just as good!
Unfortunately, there is only one skatepark at this moment in time and the 'missions' range from absurdly easy to awkwardly difficult, but all in all, it is another touch-based game that works pleasantly well and most importantly, is jolly good fun.
... : )
damn someone beat me on mentioning Sonic Jump! Does for once, look a good application of the sonic name. No sonic adventure rubbish, just sonic gameplay applied effectively.

Forever Lost episode 1 is bloody brilliant. An incredibly atmospheric adventure/puzzle game by Glitch Games.
I'm kinda gutted the next episode is about 2 or 3 months off.
Super Crate Box free today, just found myself absorbed into one of those quick goes that turns into an hour.
oh yeah forever lost, toucharcade were loving that one.
Supercrate box free is good, but I always liked it's alternative that was shamed for cloning- Muffin Knight.
Some good new releases yesterday
If you like side scrollers:
(I got it. Lots of character in game and has Chillingo quality just maybe a bit repetitive)
New word game Wordpress(free)
New runner from Chillingo Totem Runner.
New Tap adventure game from Square Enix called Wizardlings.(free)
And a couple of other good ones.

Zookeeper Battle - Excellent little time waster. Buying any of the little items is pointless and hugely expensive (69p for 4 games...but you get a free game every 6 minutes...).
Rayman Run - Completed it recently, fantastic game, excellent graphics, highly recommended.
Starbase Command - A very dull "strategy" game. You basically just place gun turrets around your base on asteroids and fleets of ships come at you. I found it very dull. My first game last 20 minutes when I had no clue what I was doing, it's all just too slow paced and.,...DULL
Two excellent free games; Letterpress and PunchQuest ... one is a clever word game whereas the other is a runner game with 16-bit visuals with the empathise on punching and upper-cutting the monsters and ghouls along the way!
As for 69p purchases, Catch 22 is a game that only has one button command - jump - yet the twist is that you are almost playing against yourself, which is quite tense to be honest. Another little gem is 'Girls Love Robots', which is a puzzle game involving girls, nerds, robots and keeping them happy ... sounds a little bit dull on paper however, it's a joy to play.
... : )
You sold me with "dull" and "strategy"
