I say - hmmmmmmm. Dunno where they got that date from; we've got it down as February on our release schedule.

I want this so might just as well preorder. The only problem is that I just had really bad experience with their shipping services. I realize it's free but they managed to send the 5 games I ordered in 5 seperate shipments - that means I have to pay the customs fee for every single item instead of just once (they charge per parcel of course). 2 of them slipped by (because they were discounted items and customs don't care about items below a certain value) but the other three I had to pay - came in at a total of 30 pounds instead of ~7 just because they sent every item on its own.

    @Der_tolle_Emil - ouch; that's a bad one..

How about game.co.uk? They've reduced the standard version a bit and the collector's edition is £34.25

    Dev interview here

Can you give us a rough estimation of how long the single-player game will last? What measures are you taking to extend lifespan?

Obviously it depends on the player, but the initial single-player game stretches to several hours, depending on what weapons and awards you've managed to unlock. However, it doesn't end there. Once you've finished the story (and you will want to finish the story) then our 'Hardcore' mode unlocks, and you'll be able to play "Director's Cut".

This mode is brutal -- more, tougher enemies, extra content in the levels and a much more punishing credit system. Finishing "Director's Cut" -- let alone getting all of the awards from it -- is a Herculean task for only the elite gamer.

It sounds like much satisfaction will be had from all quarters with this game.

Slightly Off-Topic, is House of the Dead 2&3 worthwhile? I was going to skip it lest it be too much of a step backward, but I like Ghost Squad, so if the quality of the presentation is as good (along with the extras to enhance replayability), I'm thinking it could be cool to tide me over...

HOTD2&3 is a bit shoddy, nowhere near as good as Ghost Squad.

The HotD games are ports of the arcade games which came out prior to Ghost Squad iirc. Neither have been given graphical enhancements to speak of so I'm guessing they are the bare-bones arcade experiences (Haven't got round to picking the game up myself yet). Not that thats a bad thing if you enjoyed them in the aracdes, they're just more dated than Ghost Squad.

Cool, I can sit tight then. I'm actually curious about Sim Animals -- could be my next purchase!

Then maybe Blast Works or Pikmin -- then "I'm gonna amputate yo muthafuckin' heid!" (I actually hope Deadly Creatures gets delayed; the thought of another 4 game month...well it's excessive)

Oh, I thought we could only not like Dead Rising since that will never be as good as the 360 version. We can't like exclusives either?

    Damn.

I will someday, but after spending many weeks playing Zelda I want a nice long break, so I'm just playing lightweight stuff at the moment.

Besides I still have Space Godzilla to get unlocked for shop purchase!

Just weighing up a pre-order for this, under £30 on amazon for the standard version (I am not that interested in the comic book). Also, the official gun shell looks very tempting, anyone else pre-ordering this?

I'm more interested in the new Nyko WiiWand and gun shell, since it's not a mechanical lever that hits the B button but actually slots into the base of the controller and sends the same signal, but that won't be out for awhile.

I'm not pre-ordering this, just because I plan to use trade-ins/GAME points towards an in-store purchase, but I will buy it release week-end, I do declare.

Cannot wait for this one. HOTD has always rocked. I am hugely impressed with the Wii lineup this year.

I'm always a bit amused by the longevity issue with games like this...which almost always means they get a guaranteed 6 or 7 out of 10 in the review scores.

When did high score gaming become a bad thing? It was the staple diet of gamers for years, I don't really get why things get marked down because of it now. Nobody is going to buy a HOTD game and expect 50hrs of unique gaming, they beauty is in offering a relatively short experience that you can replay over and over again.

I originally avoided Ghost Squad over that, but it's great even without the alternate versions of stages included; just not worth £29.99 to me -- hence using a trade-in for Overkill.

I flippin' love high score mechanics and leaderboards. Its a great way of competing against myself without having to sit there shouting at myself.

If every sequel had this much style and evident enthusiasm from the dev team, the world would be a better place. :) Looks utter genius to me, the first game I actually want for my Wii this year!

madgerald, all we care about is knowing when Sega will pull their finger out and get the Satrun back catalogue released?
