It all looks too fantasy football to me. Plus I was put off by the 'London United' crap in the advert on the website. Plus, won't everyone in the world just buy Cronaldo and put him in their team? Not convinced, and I've bought every FM release way back to the original Champ Man. This is probably the first one I'll pass on, as I play FM for the fantasy of playing a 'real' team, not fantasy football.
Oh yeah, plus I hate MMOs

Registered 15 years agoit aint that easy to buy ronaldo and other top players to start off with, it takes a good season or 2 before you have the money to do that

Jesus, how much a year!?! Ok, I know its a kind of MMO but c'mon...! £72.99! -

I thought the game would be full of random players. Its a shame if its the FM database, I bet everyone uses them FM scout applications to find the best players
.
At least if everything was random everyone would have the same footing. -

That's not how it works. You're given very limited funds to start off with, and have to build an entire squad out of those funds, since you start with no players at all. So you'll be starting with a squad of complete unknowns, and there's only one of each player, so if one manager signs a player, no-one else in that gameworld can have him (unless they bid for him of course).

I've been in the beta since Monday, but I'm not too impressed to be honest. The servers are incredibly slow and flaky, making it a chore to even switch between various screens without long pauses. Of course, it is only a beta, and I'm sure problems like that will be mostly ironed out, but it's a pretty frustrating experience right now. -

Yup, it is the FM database, and yes you can use FM Scout to find all the players with bags of potential. A lot of players are unavailble to sign until you've confirmed your initial squad though, which means people are unable to create an entire squad full of players with the best potential in the game.

Your funds are really limited at the start as well, and you need at least 16 players in your squad. You can really only sign complete dross. -

Ah, okay, that sounds a little better. Still doesn't sound like my cup of tea, though.

Eeek, that doesn't sound good. Is it browser based?
I dunno, to me FM has always been a single player game (most of my friends think it's a spreadsheet and can't understand why I've wasted so many hours of my life playing it). -

Not unlike playing Oxford United in FM itself, as is my own peculiar masochistic choice. -

not the full FM DB and they cant use FM Scout as the DB is server side

Aretak, but there will still be a problem. Within weeks of the game launching there will be a good player guide. Everyone who joins a server will KNOW what players are the best at 'x' value.
Will there be random GW's? As the RL one will be awful. -

It's not browser-based, there's a client program to download. But everything is stored server-side, which means every page loads much like a webpage when you bring it up. I've sat there waiting for about 5 minutes for my squad to show up on several occaisions.

I used FM Scout myself, loading up a save from FM08 and searching for players with potential on that. They were all in FML, with the exact same stats.

Yeah, but there's only one of each player. Only one person in each gameworld can possibly sign any player from a guide, and it's very unlikely one single person will manage to hoover up all the talent before anyone else arrives.

Registered 15 years agoOk then how about 6 months down the line when its mostly regens does fm scout work then, as the regen players are totaly random and not the same regens as in fm08
Also you are very lucky then to see all these players as the DB in FML is only 50000 players and in FM08 a hell of alot lager than 50000

True but it means that to realisticly get anywhere in any GW will be to use either a) a FM scout or b) read a good player guide as all the decent lower end players will all be took up.
I don't like the way they have done the FA's as well, I think they have designed the thing the wrong way round. People WANT to be put in a division, want the game to automatically place themselves, I think people are gonna get very confused with the whole FA system. -

Registered 15 years agolisten players age 12 months every 28 days= 1 season.
work it out will FM Scout work in 6-12 months time = NO
and will only be anygood to a user that has fm08 and you cant garantee that the same player will be in the GW you join
Also as said there is only 50000 players in the FML DB for 1000 users that is a very small DB to FM08 -

Mate, I know regens will kick in but by then the people who have used FM Scout/player guides will have 'x' amount of money and be doing really well.
It will be too late then. And the regens will take about 10-12 months before it has a servre effect. -

No, but it means those who signed the talented youngsters at the start will likely already have an advantage over those that missed out, leaving them with more money to sign the better regens.

Well... they're there. What more would you like me to say? Most of the ones with really high PA are unavailable to sign until you confirm your initial squad, but they certainly all exist in the FML database.

Aretak, do you know if they plan random GW's? -

Registered 19 years agoAbsoloutely no idea, though it'd be a good choice. There really seems little point in having real players to start off with, given how quickly regens are going to come into play anyway. -

There as been talk of random GWs but at release you will not see any, maybe down the line in 6-12 after release SI might do this.
There as also been talk of different speeds for GWs, we will have to wait and see

Ahh ok. Tell em' to get random GW's in then as the whole thing breaks with real players and real player stats.
