    The scythe is by far your best weapon for a decent portion of the game. Then towards the end your sword gradually gets the best gear.

    You can ramp the scythe up a level or two in that spider level. Just by going round in circles, room to room, slicing up little spiders.

    They're all a nice lenght, some smaller than others.
    Nicely varied as well I thought. Then again I pretty much loved the entire game beginning to end and I cannae wait for the second now, though there appears to be about 40 games on my "definitely have to buy" list between now and the release of the 2nd.

    Just completed it on Apocalyptic on the first play through. I loved it, closest thing I'm going to get to a Zelda game on the XBox, sure the graphics aren't fantastic but the art style is consistent and the items are proper fun to use. Not sure if I can be bothered to go through collecting all the items though, 800 achievement points after one play through isn't bad :).

    I was sure I read that it had multiplayer co-op, but after some googling it appears it doesn't :-(

    Really regret giving up on this game and would love to pick it up again. Question is though if I buy if off the PSN store will my save from the disc version work? UK disc/UK store

    Got pretty far in and really don't want to start all over again.

    I realise this is just a little bit late. Which is an understatement in the same way that a bird you slept with half a year ago who is 6 months pregnant telling you her period is a little late is an understatment... but this is actually really good fun.

    Just been buying all the sword weapons so far, is it recommended to explore every corner? Should I always trade in the medals to the merchant demon? Any other useful non game spoilery tips? For example I'm getting in to the habit of just dashing from the fat guys who smash my health and just hitting them once or twice then dashing again as they smash the ground. Is there a better tactic? Must admit, the longer I play it, the more moves I get and the more fun it seems.

    That flying bitch is a bitch. She's dead now, but talk about a difficulty spike ha. Spend all game using my sword and then I have to run around like a strafing nutcase lobbing crap and waiting for her to run at me. No boss on Demon or Dark Souls took as long as her.

    2nd looks good and been tempted to play it, but I'm the sort of person who only plays a sequel after the original.

    Cheapest place for the 1st on the xbox anyone? And is it worth playing?

    I'd say so. I've found the moves that get unlocked actually useful and enjoyed the premise of the game so far.

    Additional features announced in the last week, include:
    Combat Arena;
    After completing five of the mode’s 100 unique waves, gamers will be given the option of taking a prize or continuing for another five waves for a chance at even better items. However, if they fall in combat they will leave with nothing.
    New Game +; and an option that I didn't know about before seeing that story - Nightmare mode!
    Unlocked after completion of the game, from the start, you have one life with which to reach the end of the story. Any death by combat will see your save for NM go (for reference, similarly to Diablo 2) and you'll need to start from the beginning.

    I previously abandoned this game after finishing the introduction because that made me think it's a pretty lame, dull God of War clone. Comments on the re-release article saying it's like Zelda really made me wonder, the only thing that resembled Zelda I remember was that I was using a sword.

    So I decided to give it another go, now I'm roughly one hour into the game and all I see is a lame, dull God of War clone. Does the game magically turn around completely anytime soon or should I just give up on it?

    edit: maybe I should mention that I find God of War lame too. I actually loved the first one back then even though I was sceptical about the somewhat primitive gameplay, but it was so spectacular that I loved it nonetheless and finished it. Now that the bombast wore off, I can't really stand the game because there's little gameplay to back up the spectacle. It's from this background that I ask if I should even bother anymore with Darksiders.

    Yeah, it takes a while to find its legs but it's a fantastic game when it does. Combat is definitely the weakest part, and becomes laughably easy when you get the spinny blade move (so much so that I finished it on hard, and I usually just play games for the journey!)

    @DrStrangelove at some point there's a big graveyard, then a panzer dragoon-esque bit and then some fighting on a broken highway iirc. Following that you'll find yourself in the first dungeon at which point the game genuinely suddenly turns into Zelda and stays that way until the end. It's an odd but worthwhile shift of pace.

    Got stuck into DS2 the other evening after reading this and realising that I gave up just after the second dungeon on the 360 (I'm usually pretty forgiving of framerate dips, but that was something else!)

    Loving it so far - started from scratch on PC and just passed the third dungeon.
    I might have to go back to DS1 after this.

    Jesper Kyd's Darksiders II soundtrack is genuinely phenomenal.

    I can't remember how much you get to really appreciate it throughout the game, though.

    @Von-Doll
    Funnily enough I've actually been getting a bit annoyed about the oriental sounding piece that plays in every single fucking dungeon (well, 3/3 so far) and just sounds totally out of place.
    The rest of it is ace, though.
