Registered 16 years agoheh. for years i've had a thing about people who don't watch the charity shield - are you not proper football fans?
someone at work just asked me if i watched it yesterday and i had to look at them in a "why the fuck would i have watched that" way -

I'm tempted to pick up the official game (that scored 5/10 on here). Can someone stage an intervention? -

i was thinking of getting that game too even though its bound to be terrible.
Cant you just load up california games on an emulator or something?
This is definitely the saddest sports related feeling i've had since losing the CL final to barca in 2006. I think because I live in London I noticed the massive effect on the city just in terms of people's behaviours, loads of outdoor stuff to do, the atmosphere, the stadia etc.
It's almost that which i am going to miss most of all

It would seem Channel 4 are trying to make viewers think that they're watching the BBC.

Clare Balding is presenting the Paralympics.
She's also presenting the Grand National and Ch4 horse racing in general. -
I thought it was a bit off of the BBC to basically act like the Paralympics don't even exist. Fair enough you don't have to harp on about it, but all of the "it's all over, back to normal, nothing else going on in London, no more athletics, nothing to see here" stuff again and again is a little much. -

To be fair, the actual presenters for BBC were terrible, it was the overall coverage which was awesome.

I swear, if I ever hear the phrase 'making history' again I'm going to kill the first... 14 media-types I see swanning around Soho. -

Also, the sooner they stop grooming Humphries to take over from Linekar and actually have him do it, the better. -

Thought Jake Humphreys did a good job. I have never been able to stand John Inverdale though, I genuinely wouldn't care if he died.

Yeah, I was talking from a pure coverage perspective TBH. I'm assuming we will only get whatever they put on C4 and More4 or whatever, not to mention fucking adverts every 10 minutes. Isn't going to hold a candle to BBC's uninterrupted red button coverage.

Aye, I loved the BBC for the Olympics - screw the front of house, more for the diversity of choice and the fact it was entirely uninterrupted by FUCKING ADVERTS. -

I don't think it will be youthful and trendy. They're going for a tech angle. They're basically positioning them as the bionic-olympics. -

Yeah, really good article, but slightly tarnished by the stupid medal table on the right. Golds are more important than totals dammit!

That Washington Post article was moving. Once again makes you realise this was more than just sports, there were bigger stories at play there.
The guardian article on the legacy is interesting, if its all achieved. Certainly a great area to live (if you'll have the money).
but fluck me, the moaners there have come out from whatever bridge they were hiding for 2 weeks, ready to piss on everyone's Olympic chips.
