Discussing and swapping ale sorts. I'll start: Samuel Adams Boston Ale is what I'm sipping now, great beer. It's pretty light and works fine during the summer especially when preparing something on the grill in the sun. |

When you only have 2 33cl bottles left in the fridge and it's Sunday night, you sip it!

Bath Ales Gem, Bishops Finger and another bottle I can't remember the name of, mostly because I've just drunk a bottle of Martini Rosso and my memory is fried. -

Hmm, anyone know if Reading Beer Festival has been and gone? I could do with some of that.

They deal with some of the larger local live/cask conditioned ale breweries like Woodforde and Iceni but also a lot of the breweries that are attached to pubs in the area.
I bought a dozen back with me and haven't had the weather to sit outside and drink them yet.gif)
Nice one. I'll be doing the same very soon hopefully.
A pub just down the road from me permanently has Woodforde Wherry on tap and gets guest beers from Norfolk and Suffolk all the time. -

I had that over the weekend. It was surprisingly much darker than I expected and slightly less interesting. However yesterday I had Yorkshire Square Ale from Black Sheep and it was very lovely in my opinion. Light and fruity, with subdued hops and quite drinkable as a result.

Fuck's sake.
1. Samual Adams ales are a piss-poor excuse for ale.
2. YOU DON'T PUT FUCKING ALE IN THE FUCKING FRIDGE!

Registered 15 years agoI usually put my ales in the fridge just to cool them off a bit. Ice cold is wrong, but pleasantly cool FTW. -

The ideal temperature to serve a cask conditioned ale is around 13 degrees Celsius, so I imagine your house is kept a bit warmer than that. Why do you think beer is traditionally kept in cellars?
I don't keep it under my bed or something, I keep it at probably around 13C.
But a fridge is something like 3 degrees C, which is just wrong.
End of debate, I stand corrected that there are possibly a few ales which need to be refridgerated (but I never want one). -
I have my fridge at the lowest "setting", no need to shout. The bottles clearly say "serve cold" and leave the rest to you. It's like one of those endless discussions regarding water in whisky or not.
As for Samuel Adams being lightweight, that's exactly the point when it's 25 degrees outside but you still want to drink something that doesn't taste like Piᵝwasser. -

Good point. I just haven't seen the sun in a while.
