Lol, that was priceless. Definitely some unlikeable characters in the USA team. Dufner and Furyk especially.

Registered 11 years agoLol, the faces of the American team at this closing ceremony look like spanked arses. Dufner especially. -

Who putts worse, Mr. President? Dick Cheney or a European?
“Ben Crenshaw said it can happen,” Justin Rose said.
There's very little like that about, to be fair.
Sure, we could also find Jimmy Hoffa’s body. Come to think of it, the cops think they might have just done that under a Detroit driveway.
In that spirit, let’s humor the Europeans and entertain the notion they’ll crawl out of the grave on Sunday. All it would take is a repeat of the infamous Battle of Brookline.

Registered 7 years agoStill can't quite believe we won, never mind outright on points. I watched the first day then missed the second half of the second day simply because of how frustrating it was. I thought, quite rightly at the time, my time would be better spent with United-Spurs then MOTD later on.
Thought I'd watch the final day anyway, and I'm so glad I did. If anyone only saw it yesterday, then I really can't emphasise enough how beaten we looked (although I hear Poulter did brilliantly at the end of the second day). The Americans simply looked a different class, while we just hadn't got going. A completely remarkable result, especially considering the Americans went into the singles only needing four and a half points from twelve.
The American fans are utterly awful, which has no doubt been said a million times in here. There was complete silence for Stricker's putt but there certainly wasn't for Kaymer's. Just no class whatsoever. So happy we pulled off that comeback on their patch.
Not a dry eye in the house for Olazabal's victory speech too. "All men die, but not all men live and you made me feel alive again this week" :'( -
I'd have loved to have watched it live. Ryder cup is generally the only golf I'll watch. -

Talking of taste, I heard that someone in the crowd shouted "fuck you Seve" at one point. Classy. -

I don't give a flying fuck about golf but I when I walked into work this morning I was greeted by a massive EU flag.
This pleased me greatly. -

I wonder if the Americans will consider asking their fans to dial back the noise in future. They asked them to turn it up this time, and it didn't help them one bit. -

Woods did similar too, was walking away with his club raised then the putt dribbled wide. -

Did anyone else see Woods spit as he walked off one of the greens? Grim. -

@Tom_Servo Pretty much the same as you. I saw the whole day's play on Friday, where we did well in the foursomes and totally collapsed in the fourballs (bar Colsaerts awesomeness). Saw us play poorly in the foursomes on Saturday and was out in the evening and missed Poulters heroics. I saw every shot on Sunday.
It really was the most amazing session of sport I've ever seen. The slow nature of the sport just made the tension so unbearable, my heart was racing and my hands were even shaking a bit towards the end. I really don't know how the players stayed so calm in such circumstances, I'd be shaking like a leaf.
The big moment for me was Justin Rose holing on the 17th impossibly. That totally ruined Mickelson who lost the 18th, giving Rose the point, and that's when I started to really believe we could do it. The Americans looked like they were cracking under the pressure after that point, with Stricker and Furyk making bad shots and losing their points too.
I don't know how the boys managed to celebrate so graciously. The American supporters were out of order all week, heckling our players, booing, all sorts. Some of their players were out of order too. I recall Bradley's caddy waving the hole flag around after one putt, muppet.
