James Pond: Robocod - that game was fecking MASSIVE.

All Terrain Racer - overlooked by many.

    Cannon Fodder - of course.

Alien Breed 3D - pixels the size of oranges, but hugely atmospheric and pretty groundbreaking at the time.

Dune 2 - spent aaaages with that game.

    Superfrog - just plain awesome.

I'm gonna get my A1200 up and running next week - gonna be sweet!

/prepares to have childhood nostalgia bumraped

The only problem is...I dont want to dust out the Amiga, and then be dissapointed when they are not as good as I remember them being :(

I still have my A1200+ sitting in the loft - pretty sure it still works. Will need to get it set up some time - i just hope my disks still work as i have cannon fodder sitting there!

it is shocking when you see the mouse, and think at the time it was 'ergonomis' and now even the most basic microsoft mouse is 10 times more comfy and solid feeling.

The 1200 had the little curvy one didnt it? the a500+ had the clunky one....

haha, i had the clunky mouse, and used it on the 1200+ as I upgraded it. I remember having to change the floppy drive, and making my dad drive for 3 hours to this remote place as they were the only place that could do it at the time!

Question...do i try mine sometime, or revel in past times in my branium?

I'd like to add that sub-sim from Microprose to the list (Subwar 2050 IIRC), as well as Brutal Sports Football. The latter was often overshadowed by Speedball 2, but I actually preferred BSF. Loads of blood and gore, and group-stomping the fuck ou tof an opponent was always brilliant.

Brutal Football!!!!!!! My word..... just incredible. When you just sliced some guys head off, and then could kick it. Poetry.

Wild Cup Soccer was the follow up to it, but it didnt do it for me. Incidentally, I still own all the games that I have mentioned...lol

I'd say it's easier to 'revel in the past' with the Amiga. I tried to set up my old 1200 a few years ago, and I was shocked at how much space the whole thing took up. I ended up selling it off, as it had gone a very nasty yellow colour after being in the loft for so long - I wanted to set it free - to let it live!

Emulation also wipes out the disk swapping hassle (unless you were already one of those uber-rich Amiga hard-drive owners).

Awww - you're lucky. I ALWAYS sell off my old computers and consoles. A few years later I end up regretting it, and buying everything back.

    Only to sell it again.

    It's a vicious cycle.

I tend to keep the boxes for them all as well, most are sitting nicely in a corner of my loft. The thing I dont like, is how little you get for the consoles when you try and sell them... I jsut couldnt part with them for the value that Game/Gamestation etc.. offer.

It does mean, however, that my Mrs gets mad when she has no room to store anything! Consoles > Old furniture.
