Never had an issue with the 1.3 kickstart, except for really old stuff. On the 68020 / 68030 you could run into trouble if an older game/demo did some speed-up tricks like self-modifying code (that won't work with a cache :)).
Yeah, but as I say you can disable the cache through the menu.
I didn't know that - My A530 had a big switch to disable the whole thing :)
I did briefly also have an A1200 (did you know it fits perfectly on top of an A500? ;)), but never played pre-AGA stuff on that...

It's typical isn't it. I don't get paid until next week, so living on fumes. And then last night, an amiga with all the gubbins goes for £31

There was an amazing Football Manager game that came on a CD32 disk. It was almost impossible to win a game, but I loved it. You would do training and see your little team do a training animation.

I had a A1200 with CD Caddy that was 'compatible' but I broke it as this manager game would never save and I tried to install something and it never fully booted again.

eBay. You have to get lucky, as some of the Buy It Now prices are daft, but some of the auctions go for peanuts

Quaddy don't worry about buying old hardware like this off of Ebay, collectors usually look after their rigs, I got a CD32 about three years ago and it's still going strong sat proudly under my telly, I have the whole games collection for it because I torrented them of a site I can't remember, one of those 200, 400, 600, 800 packages, I just burnt them all to four 800mb CD's and they work perfectly, the only downside is the official pad is shit, it hurts your fingers after a few minutes.

Also if you're willing to trowel your local carboot sales, you always see people selling old hardware, get there early and if you see one get it home and if it doesn't work take it straight back, in the last two years I've bought a C64 with fully working tape deck with a handful of games including Terminator on cartridge and a Megadrive but that's given up the ghost.

I remember selling off pretty much my entire toy collection (including my brother's huge collection of WWF figures) at a car-boot sale to pay for my Amiga 1200.

Games that stick in my mind (even though they're not all exactly classics) include Waxworks, Space Hulk, Rodland, Assassin, Dune 2, Monkey Island 2, Brutal Sports/League Football, Walker, Chaos Engine, Hired Guns, Desert Strike - Jaysus - this list could go on forever.

I think I sold my (slightly yellowed) Amiga on eBay a few years ago for around £50. I loved the thing, but setting it up was just too much of a pain in the arse.

Already checked the local carboots but its a good idea.

The cd32 thing - are all Amiga games available for it? Not entirely sure how they work tbh

I've been thinking... I've got Monday and Tuesday free next week. I might take a dip into the Amiga again while there's no-one to disturb me. If I were to live stream it on Twitch would that be something anyone would be interested in?

So many incredible games listed in this thread.

And many games that have been sadly forgotten, as retro revivals tend to be for games which were big hits in the US and Japan, rather than Europe.

There was no "Amiga" on Wii's Virtual Console for example, and no classic Amiga ports to XBLA & PSN. Superfrog is probably the only exception thanks to Team 17 digging in to their back catalogue.

EDIT: Speedball and Sensi Soccer too. But still incredibly few and far between compared to the amount of US/Japan stuff.

So I decided to play some Amiga games this afternoon for an hour or so, and I'm streaming it. Starting with Chaos Engine on CD32 - come watch and suggest what I play maybe?

@quadfather :( Sorry mate, checked my Mums Garage earlier today, I think it must have gone to the dump after gathering dust for 20 years.
Typical if we had been a few months earlier it would have been ready to go. If it turns up at the bottom of a pile of stuff I will let you know. Pretty sure its gone though. :( Sorry bud.

    Anyone remember Harlequin?

It was a classic, and it pained me greatly that no one had remixed the music (on OCRemix at least) so I gave it a shot. Hope you like it :)
