EU Warhammer Online failure to Open OpenBeta

The shambles that is GOA once again demonstrates why they should not be left in a room alone with a spoon, let alone a sharp knife.

Open beta began at 8.30am. As of 20.00 it's still closed.

Only CB testers have got in so far, the registration page is dead and GOA are 'working on it' after ignoring the playerbase concerns regarding opening the account registration page for OB a few hours before the servers went live.

GOA said they could handle it. 200,000+ users say differently.

We have had Epic fails recently wth AoC. Get ready for Mythic failures courtesy fo GOA. Failure just for legendary.

Hope EG report on this tomorrow.

Amen to that, no doubt it'll be the atypical bs report though, no meat, no teeth just a statement from GOA.

The day I see EG actually grill a company for real answers i'll die a happy man.

Yup, been a complete shambles really. It's made worse by the fact that everyone on the Warhammer Alliance forums told them before hand it was going to work out badly, but they refused to listen. They have shown complete apathy towards consumers and potential consumers, it's ridiculous.

They ran EU version of DAoC.

If you were unlucky enough to play in the EU = 6 month wait for updates, pretty poor service etc.

Looks like it's going to begin over again here at this rate. The incredible thing is the GOA stance this week, the EU playerbase has been pushing for the account reg page to bwe opened 3-4 days early atleast to ensure it woudl work and no one would have to put up with problems on the OB launch day.

GOA ignored them and stated they could handle whatever was thrown at them.

This has been shown not to be the case.

    Total shambles.

People keep saying 'even WoW had all these problems' as some kind of justification that all MMO's are allowed to be released in a complete shambles of a condition, but other than the annoying loot bug which took them far too long to fix, I had zero problems in the open beta, and zero problems signing up, patching and logging in on day of release other than some understandable high pings.

The US beta for WAR hasn't gone too bad, just GOA screwing up as per usual. Reading between the lines they didn't even have all the system in place by the time they said they'd have opened up the beta :p morons.

    Yeah,

they had said they were treating today as the 'real' launch of WAR in europe.....

i mean post wow people keep saying mmo's have matured and are coming of age and releases should be smooth, they really need to be to draw people to them. Now obviously we aren't quite in those days yet - aoc, vanguard and now war. I know the primary purpose of open betas is stress test - but this stinks - the account pages have had all sorts of issues:

    not enough capchas
    flash - high load
    only works in some browsers
re-writing the account pages on Ob day.
it took until apx 4pm for an official update on the war site

crap happens guess and GOa just delivered a megaton of it :)

well as i understand it apparently there we so many people trying to register so they werent showing as the logins exceed the amount of capchas they had, hence the error and subsequent single code for everyone. i dunno - i guess my main point is that its so far been very unprofessional in my view.

There is a forum on the website, its only that testers can see it. Since no one can log in, so far no ones been able to see it.

Well it seems their problem really is miss information, they basically told everyone that was not in the Closed Beta to register a new account, this then meant 200K+ people tried to add new accounts, this is what I recon crashed the systems?

And the communication from then has been dreadful. I would like to know why it says when you try now to connect that the Authentication Server is Momentarily unavailable, that is a 26 hours moment. I guess it is a realative to what you expect.

    Dear all,

I rarely address players directly, but I wanted to write you as too few of you have been able to access the open beta today.

As my team explained in the previous post, although we have opened the servers and corrected numerous issues during the last 24 hours but we have not yet solved the issue of saturated Open Beta key activations that we’re currently experiencing. I am sincerely sorry for this, and I understand all the frustration the situation has spawned.

Today was a dark day. We expected a massive influx of players, but reality was even harsher.
I personally commit that we will communicate to you as clearly as possible on the resolution of these current issues. My goal is to give Warhammer Online the success it deserves. Be ensured that all GOA teams, with Mythic’s support, are working hard to bring you the best possible game experience.

    Best regards,
    Ghislaine Le Rhun
    GOA CEO

How nice. going to communicate with us as clearly as possible. Nothing since 03:00 Monday morning, 7 hours, guess this is momentary communication"!

Considering the CE edition is retailing at £60 (In the UK) im suprised that no websites are commenting on the royal shafting EA/Mythic paying customers have been given in Europe.

For the CE, I'm guessing a major part of the CE is being able to play in the beta? Or you get an orc figure or something?

You get a bunch of stuff in the CE - access to the beta, access to the headstart, an exclusive minature, a mouse mat, a hardbound graphic novel, a hardbound art book and a whole bunch of in game stuff (extra heads for your characters, extra items and titles etc).

Probably get a cuddly toy in there somewhere as well no doubt...

Im having a hugely frustrating problem with my open beta key. I sent it yesterday at just after 4pm, expecting to get the reply email a few hours later like it says on quite a forums, telling me whether it was successful or if there was an error. Anyway it has now been 24 and a half hours and i have had absolutely no reply, and i cannot find a support link on the site anyway so i emailed to the 'report a bug' link at the bottom in search of some hope.
What takes the piss even more is tha a mate of mine sent his open beta key a couple of hours after i did, and 2 hours later he had received his comfirmation!
So basically im quite fucked off right now -.-'
Anyone else having the same problem or know anyone with the same problem?
