I'm a big fan of stand up comedy and I have just seen his performance on BBC2 - I just recently discovered that I actually get BBC on cable (don't live in the UK obviously) and I only knew him from mock the week which I was watching only for the second time today; I didn't know he did stand up comedy as well. Anyway, it was brilliant. I highly recommend watching it (out on DVD and on youtube) if you haven't seen this. I'm definitely impressed! |

He does, but chatting to a few people who have seen him live, and looking at the reviews over at Chortle, it appears though that you see his material on one, you've seen it on the other.
To be fair, you can level that accusation at a lot of people. Bill Bailey's only done 1 and a half standup routines, for example. -
I really liked that Stewart Francis, his style really appealed to me.
Shame that last week they had reverted to "this show is a showcase for stand ups to publicise themselves" rather than the messing about that they were doing the last few weeks before that. -
I enjoyed the Canadian guy as well actually on that episode. Didn't he do the routine about family??? -

Registered 18 years agoFrankie Boyle is an absolute legend. The others are good too, but he makes the show. Mock The Week is easily the best thing on television at the moment. -

Registered 15 years agoGlad to see a few Frankie Boyle fans on here. The dude is warped, but very, very funny. The canadian was surprisingly funny as well. But I really hate that young fella on there, the one from Bristol, blond hair, T-shirt. Just. Not. Funny. -
I find Dara O'Briain the least funny part of Mock the Week. I've always thought it could benefit alot from a different, funnier host. -

Registered 16 years agoI have only seen Mock the Week two times but I thought it was excellent. I guess some of the charm comes from all kinds of accents there because I am not used to anything but American English at all. Yesterday's family story (I don't know who told it, I was in the kitchen) was fantastic. "I was raised by my father, my mother left before I was born". Brilliant

Registered 12 years agoJust saw Dara at the Bristol Hippodrome. The guy is lightening quick, and can work wonders with anything he gets from the audience. One of the best 'celeb' stand-ups I've seen in a while. His video game skit had me in stitches. -
Dara O'Briain or Dylan Moran? Hmm, not really comparable. Ignore this. Carry on.
