Um... since refreshing the BBC HBOS has now dropped to 36.67%.

HBOS, Barclays and RBS are the names that are getting flung around at the moment. Barclays particularly. I'm adding them to my Dead Pool list, which currently stands as:

Morgan Stanley
Goldmann Sachs
Barclays.

I reckon all three will be Chapter 11 or bought within three months. Reckon William Hill will take my bet?

Remain calm. The market is having a wobly because of uncertainty in the future. It's "normal" in current conditions. i.e. it's how you would expect investors to react. SELL SELL SELL ITS ALL GOING TO SHIT!

Sadly Northern Rock kept hold of my house deeds / nutsack / bank details for the repayment direct debit, so I don't think it works that way ;o)

I was also just wondering this... Northern Rock doesn't count because they were saved by the government.

But what happens if a bank that you have debts/mortgage with goes completely under. Do you lose your house?
