But I don't think they're annoyed because of their sex. its more the suggestion its a gimmick or that it limits the potential for a better cast etc. I think most people would have wanted the original cast (as best can be) as their first choice. With that out of the window a new cast with maybe Ray showing up early on passing the torch in some way can satisfy fans of the original. Rebooting it with only women isn't an issue. It makes sense that women would hire their friends and same sex the same way the original cast did. But when you read how this movie 'could not go ahead without a full female cast', and then you see how they've practically recast the original characters but as females. It jyst feels a bit cheap maybe rather than a cool new spin. 10 years ago it probably would have felt different.. But today? Did anyone really see that it was all female cast and freak out in a good way like its never been done before? Surely no one is that closed minded that they're stunned by something like this and think "wow how fresh!"? I just think its odd to limit the casting to a certain sex or race or anything. Id feel the same if it was revealed that the original only got the thumbs up because it was a full male cast or if they'd enforced an only black guy cast for the new one. Its like they have an idea, put the blinkers on and just charge forward with it. Rather than just want to make a great film. Hopefully its a good film though. And id love to see the original cast either show up or maybe show up in a sequel to this. Edited by KRadiation at 16:09:35 10-07-2015 |

Registered 11 years agoSo have we done dream casting then? Given that the originals are out, who is in KRadiation's dream ghost busting team?
How about an Entourage and Ghost Busters cross-over? It could be Vince and the crew trying to make Ghostbusters 3, trying to get the original cast to do it: tracking down Murray after he's gone on an incredible binge post-Cubs World Series win. Eventually they have to settle for an all female cast when the studio cuts the production budget! -

Registered 13 years agoGod I wouldn't know who to cast. Id pluck names out and then someone else would name 6 better.
Id have to see a script and then match them to the tone though. If they're going for a straight film with humour, id pick a different cast to if they wanted something a little more like a typical will Farrell style comedy.
I wouldn't have minded Steve Carell though. -

Registered 11 years agoJust limiting it to one gender is stupid anyway. I'd like a community eque diverse cast.
My problem is that Ghost Busters has a very specific tone that this won't be able to replicate. Modern comedy is just too loud. The original Ghost Busters should have been awful. The original script sounds pretty rubbish. But through luck, circumstance and last minute Murray, turned out amazing.

Registered 10 years agoNot sure what I think About the full costume pic, I guess the jumpsuits look a lot better with the packs on but they all just look a bit awkward in all the shots I've seen. The black girl is waay bigger than any of the others (scarily so lol) the geeky one (never seen her before) just has to be egons daughter or whatever. They all just look monumentally bored/embarrassed. Still I assume it will all turn out ok in the wash right? -

The girl on the right looks more like Egon than Egon did to be fair considering they were supposed the 'real' ghostbusters.
They actually look okay with the packs on. -

Registered 9 years agoI'm keen on the idea of a Ghostbusters 3, but haven't been following it closely. Reading through this thread, a few thoughts spring to mind:
- all female cast is just pointless. It over playing the PC Card, but I'll give it a pass.
- original cast cameos? READ: easy pay day. Not expecting much.
- that cast picture!! OMFG that looks awful! Worst uniform/costume ever!
I don't know why, but that picture is setting off serious alarm bells for me. Looks beyond dreadful and just excessively cheesy. My heart sank when I seen it. Only a picture of course but holy crap, THAT was the pic they choose for promotional purposes...?!?! -

Registered 7 years agoMy main issue is that every single promotional shot or behind the scenes shot looks fucking terrible and the cast look like they couldn't act their way out of an amateur drama class, much like the Genysisis ones. I finally saw that this weekend and my suspicions were confirmed, it was the worst film I've seen in a long time.
Add to that, Melissa McCarthy is about as funny as contracting Aids. If she's the comic relief then it's fucked from the start.

Both Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig are both funny people to be fair. -

It's funny when Danny McBride does it.

Kristen is funny but no, Melissa is certainly not. And neither is Danny McBride. -
"Hi my name is Melissa and I shout at people and I'm fat and that's where most of my jokes stem from and I play the exact same character in every film I've ever been in and I'm fat." -
None of them are anywhere near as funny as Bill Murray. I think we can all agree on that.
