Well I've blocked his number and found a new apartment, so he can be enemies with his shadow for all I care.

He sounds like he might shake things up with his saucy chat.

@Graxlar_v3 Ta! I feel more sorry for the town. 400-500 jobs is a lot to lose for the area.

Erk, earlier in the week I was told to expect the site to close at the end of 2020 and now apparently a few fellow contractors have now been informed we might get our 90 days notice as early as January. I was starting to think 2020 was wishful thinking. Oh well, onwards!

Are you set for a big redundancy payment bill? If not gtfo as soon as you can before you are competing with loads of others for jobs.

Ghostbusting must be a very fickle business. One minute you're best friends with the mayor of New York, the next you're doing kids parties.

Joking aside, sorry the hear that, Bill, what industry do you really work in? Is it easy to move between companies?

Fortunately not going to be made unemployed but I'll be starting a new job probably late on next month, need to wait until my contract comes through before I give my resignation letter.

Thing is our annual leave will start again in April. If I end up giving my 4 week resignation notice in sometime within the next week / few weeks, will I be (and I hate this word) entitled to claim for any of my annual leave (it's 22 days + Bank Holidays)?

I believe not as you would be handing in your notice before April also they're not going to pay essentially free money for not being there.

Yeah, that's fair. Better hope they sit on the contract for a few more weeks.

Tbf even if you hand it in April I heavily doubt they'll give you any leave at all. When I worked in the civil service and I resigned just as my new leave entitlement started they said I had to be working for a minimum of 3 months in the new leave year to be eligible for the leave.

When you leave a company it is standard practice for them to either let you use holiday or to pay it to you. You accrue holiday on the basis of 2 days per month, ie if you leave in April you would have a minimum of 6 days from working till end of March (if it went on calender year). Similarly when you join a company you are prorata for that year, so you have 9 months assumed which means 18 days for the year.

Not sure what the legal minimum is but that is the practice i have seen in a few other places. And of course some companies will be more generous.

@JamboWayOh Thanks mate. I've got 2 weeks off at the end of March / April from this year anyway so not all is lost. I'm just being a greedy cunt.

    Edit- Thanks Sharz.

Well as I said I got no leave entitlement despite resigning in late July and my leave year starting in August. Just wait and see I suppose.

    Got an interview on Friday.

Probably going to have a technical test and the like, so have got a load of interview questions and answers printed off so that it can jog my memory a bit, as I've been out of work for a while. Also managed to find the course booklet and notes from a training course I did in something that's required for the role.

Got another possible interview coming up but just waiting for HR to get back to the agent who will get back to me.

At the very least it'll be interview practice. Hopefully back for second interview/offer.

Good luck. Must be in with a really good chance to be interviewed by that level.

Unless there’s like three people in the business or something....

It's true, your interviewer will be imagining you in your underwear from the outset anyway, as is my understanding. So it's already sexy

Wednesday in the London office, early afternoon. Damn. That’s fast moving,

Going to go down tomorrow. Get settled and maybe see a show. Will get travel expenses back but I’ve decided to go tomorrow afternoon, avoid the mad morning rush and stress on Wednesday morning and chill the fuck out. May go and catch a show or something. Just better not end up in “gentleman’s club” till 5am.
