Registered 11 years agoDid some more in 1-2 last night, leveled up a bit more and ready to go now. Can feel it getting it's claws into me again. -

That moment was utterly mindblowing. Like the church lift on steroids.
Bloodborne is less like that, but there is one particular shortcut that is damn impressive. -

So do you just do everything in order or go do what you can in each world until you can manage it?

Registered 11 years agoIt's entirely up to you.
For me, it depends. If I'm making a dex or magic character, I do 1-1 as per normal, but then go immediately to 4-1 and make a suicide dash for the crescent falchion, as it suits those build really well. Then I normally go straight to world 2 and have a crack at that.
However, this is a strength build, so I'm not exactly sure. I've leveled up the winged spear for now, but I need to work out what weapon I want and then plan it all out.
You can do all the 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1 and 5-1 worlds from the off, but 4-1 and 5-1 will be tricky. As is 3-1 really.
You can't get to the 1-3 area until you've beaten an Archdemon, so that's a bit of a route to plan out. An Archdemon is classed as any final boss in worlds 2 to 5.
I also need to read up again on what the boss souls can be forged into to see if I can craft a decent strength weapon. It's been a while. -

I think the large club is in 2-1. Or some kind of club anyway

Registered 9 years agoHas anyone ever defeated Doran? I never have. Tough bastard. -
By cheesing him, yeah.
I lure him as far as he'll go, then backstab him when he turns back. What, I'm not ashamed. -

Registered 13 years agoI've beat him with most of my characters - including my level 30 as it wears his armour 8)
You can poison him as that's what I did with my first ever character
It's a tough melee battle as once you get him to a certain point he heals himself -

Registered 14 years agoDoran only heals once, IIRC, but he does heal all the way.
A weapon with decent reach and some damage can slap him on the approach and stagger him. Once you get Demonbrandt that will do good damage if you're PWCT.
He gets more aggro when he's under about 2/3, draw him outside and dodge sideways when he comes for you then run round and backstab him.

Have you completed world 5 yet? 5-3 is one of the most emotional areas ever for me
Oh god.
I just found out why Stockpile Thomas is like he is. Why he’s constantly worried about my whereabouts.
Heartbreaking. I really did not expect this level of characterisation.
got to say 5-2 was just horrible, do not want to replay that any time soon. I'll be going to sleep hearing a swarm of flies later. -

Registered 15 years agoI take it that if I want to finally get back into this and finish it now that my PS3 is alive again (which is what stopped me in the first place) that I should be doing it with online on before the shutout? Or is that not really not too important? My plan at the moment is one full playthrough as too big a backlog to be playing games multiple times (and got DS1, 2, Bloodborne waiting too). IIRC I was uo to a firey boss at end of a mine. Probably world 2 as I think I just did them in order... Just polishing off Yakuza 0 first then free for a new game to play. -

Registered 17 years ago@One_Vurfed_Gwrx I'd argue that without the online component it will still be great, but you'll be missing out the lively and supportive atmosphere that messages, ghosts and the rest online components offer, not to mention the chance to summon another player. So, if I were you, I'd move it in the front of the backlog line, in order to experience it as designed while I still had the chance... -

Registered 14 years agoOnline isn't important, all I seem to be getting from it is audio glitches and enemies failing to spawn whilst the PSN struggles.
Also if you want to do all the things you basically need to play offline anyway for world tendency.
I'm halfway through my all spells run now, just about to do Allant and then into NG+, then do all Yuria's spells. -

That sounds like you are very close to the end of a world. Could be wrong though, it's a long time since I played. -

Registered 14 years agoYeah, the blue dragon is at the end of one of the worlds.
Best way to get past it is to go to the left hand side of the staircase, then wait for it to breathe fire at the left and run up as its head starts moving right (it goes left to right then right to left then pauses).
Then you can lock onto it from below and shoot it a billion times in the chin until it dies. -

Registered 17 years agoFinished it last night, yeah, wow. what a game, I did find it difficult but towards the end I felt it levelled out, the bosses got a lot easier, especially once I swapped my heavy knights armor for black leather! Rollin for days!
The thing that got me most was the characters, just incredibly deep, so many touching, dark, heroic stories throughout.
I think I'll come back to it in 6 months time for another run through, but world 5 fatigued me too much to jump straight back in. -

Registered 13 years agoI played it for the first time without a guide, I hadn't even seen any gameplay of it before putting the disc in - just read the gamestm 10/10 review and bought it on that and the recommendation of someone at work
As a result I missed an absolute ton of stuff. There's loads of NPCs to track down and there are some that I've only ever seen the once now - despite playing it through over 20 times
It's like an old 8-bit game in that respect as I didn't know what was secreted away back then either - until I found it by chance and had my mind blown

I still haven't met all the npcs either - I'm sure I've not seen Selen Vinland. Or maybe I did. I dunno

Registered 14 years agoOr munch lots of grass.
You can get loads of it from 4-2, just run to kill the reaper then spend the 5k on grass from Mary J.
(I tend to use the Adjudicator Shield all the time anyway, only needs 14 strength and only weighs 3.5) -

Registered 17 years agoI never really figured out how to get Pure stones, are they just super hard to find? -
Some are hard (pure bladestone is a bastard to get - can only get it off a black skeleton in world 4 and it's a super rare drop), whereas some are much easier (pure faintstone is given to you by the cleric assistant in the nexus when you get 20 faith and/or rescue saint urbain and then speak to her)
the rest are normally from hard bastards or crystal lizards, but have a low drop rate
