The only ones that are rare to get are Blade, Moon, and Darkmoon. Moon and Darkmoon only come from crystal lizards and Demons Souls crystal lizards are The Worst™ At least you get infinite goes at the Bladestone Skellington. All the others have at least one fixed drop, boss reward, or quest reward. |

So is that where levelling "Luck" might be useful?
Some are hard (pure bladestone is a bastard to get - can only get it off a black skeleton in world 4 and it's a super rare drop), whereas some are much easier (pure faintstone is given to you by the cleric assistant in the nexus when you get 20 faith and/or rescue saint urbain and then speak to her)
the rest are normally from hard bastards or crystal lizards, but have a low drop rate -

Registered 11 years agoI guess that's the plan. I believe it helps with item discovery. However, in demon's, the more black the world tendency is, the more chance of enemies dropping rarer items. And the harder they are to kill. And likewise, the more white the world is, the less chance of items dropping, but the enemies are easier to kill.
Fun eh! -

Registered 14 years agoCan be. Luck builds also let you make the most of the Blueblood Sword (esp. if you also have Magic and use Light Weapon). -

Out of interest, was your world tendency general white/average? And did you play it online most of the time?
Finished it last night, yeah, wow. what a game, I did find it difficult but towards the end I felt it levelled out, the bosses got a lot easier, especially once I swapped my heavy knights armor for black leather! Rollin for days!
The thing that got me most was the characters, just incredibly deep, so many touching, dark, heroic stories throughout.
I think I'll come back to it in 6 months time for another run through, but world 5 fatigued me too much to jump straight back in.
I'm just thinking of certain NPC's that only appear under certain conditions, some of which have quests -

Registered 14 years agoI nearly goofed on getting all the spells by doing the wrong ending by accident.
Fortunately I had a character with all the souls but a slightly crap build, which I'm making somewhat irrelevant with Northern Regalia to swat my way through NG+ to finish it off. -

I was going to have a nice quiet evening by the fire. Maybe have a glass of red. Unwind. Relax.
And now I want to get my face kicked to death in demon's souls

Stack all the regeneration items and hammer time. -

Maiden Astraea too, but mostly Horrible Swamp Lady who has given up those chunks of Faintstone to let me have my +5 Blessed Mirdan Hammer.
Three more Archdemons and some WT shenanigans for the Plat. -

Registered 14 years agoYeah, cleaver phantom. Horrible Lady. Horrible Swamp. Horrible Swamp Lady.
Blessed Mirdan seems fine, like any blessed weapon you just regenerate out of any non-fatal damage in pretty short order. I like the Large Sword moveset most for two handing though so if I was going to go Blessed again I'd just break down and use a Claymore (Claymore is a fantastic weapon, very long reach and good damage).
Anyway, what's this I spy here:

Oh shit son.

It's only a full goddamn set!

Registered 15 years agoUgh. Turns out is about 25 months since I played this so got completely lost in my world 2 despite unlocking lots of shortcuts before... Also getting the hang of the controls and not hitting square to attack (wasting items) after playing loads of Yakuza is fun... -

Registered 14 years ago@quadfather If it's any consolation on my last run I actually died to Leechmonger.
Like I've played through Demons Souls at least six times now and never died to Leechmonger. (Turns out he's a massive DPS check if you try and do him first after 1-1).
(Have died to gravity in Leechmonger's room by forgetting the cliff was there).

A week left until servers shut down
Although in my recent plathrough I didn't see any invasions or co-op opportunities, so guess it will only really impact the messages and world tenancy -

Registered 7 years agoI'd have to pick up a PS3 to play this now and although there is a server to play it on it won't be the same experience it was. It's great that it's there but I'm greedy and want to the full fat experience of the game at it's best. -
World Tendency events were the only online feature I valued. Ghosts and messages I'm indifferent to, they're an interesting concept but not something that added much to the game for me.
World tendency though, having the World shift to pure black, black phantoms coming out of the woodwork. That made things interesting... Dangerous, but think of the loot they carry. I set out to kill them all.
Changing DNS settings is more than worth it to get World tendency events back again.
